i am a new user n posting for the first time........got thru iit madras .......even remitted the fees.......waitin for nm amnd iiml results.......mad at nm right now fr delayin their results......was countin on that...... 
well thats life for u........anyways wat do u guys think........iit m worth goin or not irrespective of the iit brand.......while the insti infra is gr8.....dept. infra may be on the lower side........but i did like the course structure and faculty seemed decent........and then the million dollar question........placements.......well i dunno.......i guess we will have to slog........lets keep sharing info......

well sidharth...buddy even i was having the same dilemma as u.nm vs iit madras........i assure u i was like this fr a few days....

but rational thinking broyght me to the conclusion that nm is better AS OF NOW.....i do agree that these iit soms have a very fast learning curve...but as of now it wud be imprudent of us to leave nm to join iit madras.....
well all said and done.. i still think iit madras wud be a good bet if we have its limitations firmly in mind and slog and really make up our minds to total the program......
all imho..open to argument......

Hey people, did u guys get any intimation from IITM now that the last date for submitting the fees is over? Hoped that they'd keep in touch and also update their site about the latest placements....
Moreover, I still got a doubt over the Department v had our interview in! Is that management Block? It also said Oceanography Section, something... Or did u see a separate department for MBA?

our interviews were in ic&sr; building......and according to ppl its the best building in iit m ...........the mba classrooms are in the hs block.........there isnt a separate building for mba as yet...........however i hav been told that the four rooms that hav been created esp fr the mba program r pretty cool.............

For all those guys who have sent there acceptance letter at and the fees to IITM have u recieved any confirming e-mail or acknowledgeemt of any sought. Why I ask is b'coz i havent.

The IITM interviews were held in the IC & SR building, which is used by all departments, the ocean engg dept also has some offices in it.As of now they dont have a separate MBA block.Recently HRD ministry has recognised Management Studies as the 15th dept of IITM, so funds will flow thru soon.I heard that they were in the process of building a MBA block...but not sure though...I might try and meet some current batch MBA students soon.Will keep u posted on it...bbye

go c that info and lets discuss more abt it........

Well according to me, a more significant developement is that a new Department Of Management Studies has been created and thus the MBA program will no more run by the Humanities dept.
It perhaps bodes well for the future batches.

just saw the updated placement report for IITM this year. 😁 I think IITM has done well to get so many companies on campus within 2 yrs of its inception. and the companies will not get reduced, but would gradually increase. Infact our seniors will also help us having better companies on campus. for that matter even we can work for it guys ..... i take the next 2 years as the time when we shall have to slog ourselves hard.... there is no other way out .....
i dont know if the placements have been 100% or not, but then even if the 90% people get placed, it is gr8 considering not everyone goes for a job (this is a possibility) ..... so we shud not worry on that account .... also i guess the figure of 4 lacs as the median salary must be the CTC ... the gross shud be close to say 3.2 to 3.5 ... which is decent yaar ..... after all we cannot compare IITM to any IIM or IIT B/D for that matter ... this is having too high hopes right now ... may be by the time we r out ... we might have an equal standing with the other IITs .....
so guys .. chill ... just keep this thought in ur mind that we shall fare well for the next 2 years and things out turn as we wish them to be ......
this is my perspective ... and i wud like to know urs as well .....
