good ppl r joining! wat about the rest ? still in the dilemna abt iitm,k,kgp etc?
i had also converted iitm, and very puzzled abt wat to join. i then enquired from one of my friends in iitk abt iitk and he told me their is very little diff bw kgp,k and m.
same highest salary - 7.5l by citibank.
same mean - 4.6l etc
but he said the summers this year have gone very well and ppl in k r expecting great placements! but yes iitm systems is damn good.
the faculty in iitk is supposed to be to[p class.
anyways i feel all the iit's whether k,vgsom,sjsom,kgp,m are goin to be almost equal after 3-4 yrs or so.
so the facts r there in front and i am still enquiring!
but 99% it is iitk.

Seems there are a lot of guys frm CHD....count me too (currently studyin in b'lore though).
Converted IISc also but most probably would be joinin IIT-K.
I believe the faculty at IIT-K is really top notch which would greatly enhance the learnin experience plus the environment is more business like...wat say??
Was really impressed by the faculty present for gd/pi at delhi center, a major reason why i'm chuckin IISc(no offense intended) over IIT-K.
So, lets get to know each other better and have a great time at IIT-K .

How is life at IIT K?
Life at IITK is just too good. It is Hectic but you can enjoy each second of it Some might see it as too stressful but as i see it, we MBAs have to do in 2 years what the B.Techs do in 4years. So it is bound to be hectic.
Please elaborate on it and also what type of pedagogy (case studies/b-games) is adopted there.
The Pedagogy here includes mostly case studies. We also play business games that help us in strengthening our fundamentals in various subjects. We also have projects in which we have to interact with real industries or businesses and learn about their practices. We have a world renowned faculty.
Is there a particular specialization (marketing/finance etc...) in which IIT K is extremely strong. Also, are we allowed to take dual specializations in 2nd year.
IITK is particularly strong in Operations Specialisation. You can specialise in Marketing and FInance also.Right now there are not enough subjects offered for Systems specialisation. But this might change before you come because there are new faculties coming for systems. Here there is an option for Dual specialisation
How about the extra-curricular activities out there (different student committees and other activities)?
I can assure you that you won't get more variety of extra curricular activities even in IIMs. We have Antaragni, the cultural festival, Udghosh- the Inter IIT Sports Festival,Josh- The Intra IIT all night Sports Festival, Megabucks- The B-Plan Competition, apart from that we have various clubs in IIT like the Business Club, teh GLiding CLub, The Music Club and what not
How is the mess food. Eatable? (:D) Any possibility of getting south Indian food out there. What is the climate like?
Well, this might become a problem area as i too found it a bit difficult to adapt to north indian food. But by north Indian standards, the food we get here is good. It is difficult to get south indian food here other than Masala Dosa or Iddly, for which we have a small south indian mobile canteen. The Climate is in extremes. By December the Cold sets in and it is really cold here. By the time you come here, summer will just be ending. Heat is also too much but luckily there is no humidity here. That helps a lot.
How about the hostel facilities? Does MBAs have a different hostel or do we share with the UGs there
Hostel Facilities are real good. You get single rooms with 24 hrs internet connection. You need to bring the PC if u want to use it. Right now all first year MBAs are accomodated in a single hostel and the seniors are divided in 2 hostels. There is a move to bring all MBAs to a single hostel. But decisions are yet to be taken.
How are the placements there and the packages they offer? (max and avg).
In OUr Senior Batch, the maximum salary package was somewhere around 7.5 and the avg was around 5. and median 4.5
