Does IIT KGP graduates use a cutoff for awarding "Honors" with degree (as in BTech Hons), for example, a gpa above 7.5 gets a grad an honors degree?
How good is a GPA of 7.7-8.2 in BTech engineering considered at IIT Bombay for admission to top Bschools?

As I understand, the above GPA is good for top schools. You need not convert it in scale of 4. US schools understand IIT GPAs and their relative importance. They do not look at everything in black and white, not all 3.5/4 are same....
Clearly, schools ask not to convert and show the GPA as-is. If old IIT graduates can share their personal experiences in regards with GPA for h/s/w, I will appreciate it.
Specifically,
1) Is a 7.95 considered Hons degree? (IITs do not officially award distinction.)
2) Do AWA score of 4.0 matter (if GMAT verbal is 750 with v 40)?
