However I have also got admission offer from MDI (PGPM). I am confused what to join.
On the face of it, I feel like going for IIMI as it gives IIM brand. However, MDI has better infrastructure, excellent faculty and good reputation for past 37 years. In many rankings (incl pagalguy rankings), MDI has been ranked 2 places ahead of IIMI. I spoke in detail with a guy who has done his PGPM from MDI and he told me that the kind of jobs that people get (profiles as well as packages) are same as those at IIMs. MDI also has a unique exchange program with 30+ foreign institutes, hence more than one third batch goes to foreign institutions for a semester or two and equivalent no of foreign students come here.
Regarding drawbacks of MDI, its fees are high (8 lacs for 2 years) but that is not a criteria for me. Also heard that number of international offers at IIMI are more.
Please guide me in taking the decision.
Thanks.
Its not just the brand... come here and see the infrastructure.... u'll find it one of the best in the country... the class rooms, hostel etc are well equipped and we have an excellent IT infrastructure.
And as far as student exchange is concerned, let me tell u that IIM Indore has more than enough tie ups with foreign universities... each and every person interested in going for student exchange is going in our batch.
Talking about the profiles, you can easily see for urself the best of profiles offered in the placement report.
And I don't think after the hike by IIMs, fees is a differentiating factor anymore (it should not be anyways).
Don't get misguided by 1 or 2 rankings friend... see the ground realities before making a decision.
MAN what a relief!! after 3 straight rejects since morning all hopes were lost!!! but IIMI to the rescue!!!!! phewwwwwwwwwwwwww!!!!!!! yaaaaaaaaaaay!!!! i'm really gonna be an IIM grad!!!!
Please welcome me to the PLANET I!!!!!!

Hello All! I see that some of you have multiple converts either from MDI or IIM K and IIM L and you may want to know about these institutes vis a vis IIM Indore.
I will say the following about IIM Indore, since pagalguy.com and we at IIM I dont believe in comparison dont expect me or any of the students here to compare our school with others. However to avoid any confusions I am trying to post all that is to know about IIM Indore and Life @ Planet I.
1) Infrastructure: The infrastructure is great. The campus is on a hillock on the outskirts of Indore with no pollution and a cool breeze 24 X 7. Whenever we have hosted guests whether dignitaries, visiting faculty or students we have received compliments for the campus. Talking about the other infrastructure there are all sports facilities, badminton, cricket, volleyball, basketball, table tennis, carrom are all played 24 hrs. The hostels are all WiFi enabled and each room has a personal lan connection also. There are washing machines and ironing services for the students on campus which are all taken care of from the fees or the informal student fund. The classrooms are up to the mark with any other institute with chairs that recline and comfortable seating arrangement.
2) Faculty: The faculty at IIM I is growing just like the institute, there are new teachers every term and that is adding to our overall strength. Plus the visiting faculty pick up a bulk of the courses in the second year where industry exposure helps us know what is the latest.
3) Teaching Pedagogy: The teaching pedagogy is the Case Study Method as followed by Harvard and IIM A. The case study method requires students to apply the conceptual understanding to specific business situations to enable better decision making.
4) Culture/ Student Life: We have a number of student initiatives, An annual fest (IRIS), a marketing event (Utsaha) and a Magazine ( I-Mag) are external fronts to the world. Internally we have interest clubs that range from marketing, finance, photography and drama and films. Regular movie screenings, inhouse quizzes, events and competitions. The students also have the freedom to organise get togethers and evenings with Music so that they can let their hair down and have a relaxed time. There are initiatives like salsa classes and yoga classes which are student initiatives.
5) Placements: The placements though secondary to a Bschool education have become the prime reason people join the course. Ofcourse we attract some of the best global brands and all of India's top companies are regulars at IIM Indore. The placement report is more detailed and is the best place to lap up the latest on that front.
6) Misc: On addition to all of this I can assure you that you will not regret joining IIM Indore as it will surely deliver more than what is expected of it ensuring that you make friends for life, share your days with those who matter and come out on top with a career that you want
@Junta at I: Pls feel free to add anything that you feel is appropriate and has been missed out....
Is the a basic llist of things to buy/bring.. a checklist of sorts. viz.. Laptop Essential/optional or provided, Jacket/Blazer how many needed, color etc?
Do we wear casuals in classroom such as jeans or is it full formal suit.
so need to decide between MDI n I...dunno wat all factors to consider! any tips...
I also have both MDI and IIM I converts. The reasons for my choosing IIM I over MDI, apart from the brand, would be the fee hike to be effected by MDI, which would take the fees to double that of IIM I. Also considering a few niche profiles available only in the IIMs, IIM I has an advantage. All this coupled with the points given by Pranav above make the choice clear for me.
Well..as I have said earlier, after 4 rejects in a row,it feels so nice to be the part of IIM I. I have few queries as well and I believe Jalan & Pranav will answer these.:poketounge: 1:What are the things which we need to carry when we come to Indore.( Things which we use in daily routine.) 2:What type of hostel facility will be their. I mean single/twin sharing. And I heard IIM B has ACs attached in the rooms,do we have similar facilities @ IIM I also.
just curious about the new era of my life @ IIM I so want to ask the things which I wanted to know.
