IIM Mumbai vs IIT Bombay

Hi… can anyone pls help me in a decision… I’m GEF with 9/8/8 profile and with 2.5+ yr workex in IT sector, scored 98.63 this year, I am waitlisted in IITB and IIM-M both and have fair chance of converting both, but I haven’t got admission offer from any old IIM(B,L,A,C,K,I) , so shall I repeat this year or shall I join a clg this year only and whom shall I prefer IIM-M or IIT-B.

I have convert from IIM Shillong & in CAP the best converts are IIM Raipur, Udaipur, Ranchi.

What shall I do?? pls help…

Hi
I hope you are doing well. I am reaching out to seek your honest advice regarding my MBA plans.

My academic profile is as follows:

  • 10th: 60.8%
  • 12th: 49.2%
  • Graduation: 59.11%
  • Work experience: 2 years (will be 3 years next year)
  • Category: PWD

I am considering preparing seriously for CAT and targeting a good MBA college. However, I am concerned about how my academic background—especially my 12th score—might impact shortlisting, summer internships, and final placements.

Since you have firsthand experience with the MBA journey, I would truly value your candid perspective:

  • Is it realistic for someone with my profile to aim for a Tier-1 or Tier-2 MBA?
  • How much do academics affect internships and placements in practice?
  • Would strong work experience and a high CAT percentile meaningfully offset weak academics?

I am willing to put in the effort, but I want to make an informed decision before committing fully to preparation.

Thank you very much for your time. I would greatly appreciate any guidance you can share.
