Not shortlisted at 10th-91. 12th-84. Be-8.77. Cat 99.7...though not sad. Missed only banglore and indore this time...

I would usually refrain from such posts, but sometimes you really need the answers!
Profile: CAT OA: 99.04 (97.7/98.1)
Work experience: 22 months with ICICI Bank (HO)- Structured Finance and Securitisation
First attempt CA (7 marks short of a rank): Pass percentage ~ 4% of those who have already cleared intermediate level.
Acads: 10(ICSE)/12(ICSE)/Grad(B. Com H- St Xaviers Kol): 88.67%, 90.4%, 69% (pursued parallelly with CA course- entails 9 hours of articleship everyday for 3.5 years with a CA firm)
Just trying to understand whether academic excellence at ALL levels is all that matters?
When would the Indian education system mature!
If only academic filters had to be applied, then i wonder why would such an esteemed institute take the whole world of time to release their shortlist!
No wonder why IIMI is seeing such dwindling placement records of late and fall from grace.
Disappointed would be an understatement to decribe how i feel now.
First attempt and got IIM I call at 97.46% in CAT, 86.6% in 12th, 91.4% in 10th and 83.6% in grad.
Missed only Bangalore.
Hope I convert the calls.

IIM-I admission process bordering on being categorized as bizzare.
Going by the trend this year, ppl with %ile as low as 94,96 and minimum work-ex have got IIM-I call but those with as high as 99 and 2+ yrs of work ex haven't got it (both having almost similar acads). This is absolutely bizzare because the notification of IIM-I clearly mentions 10th, 12th and grad marks summing upto weightage of 100% for final WAT/PI shortlist. But clearly work-ex seems to be the deciding factor. I have no problem with that as well as long as the shortlisting process is made clear beforehand. And then they can ask in interview, "Why not continue job for 2-3 more years and then go for MBA?"

If I have been shortlisted by IIM Indore as well as by new IIMs, do I have to go for WAT & PI of newer IIMs, because it is mentioned that newer IIMs will take the data from older IIMs ?
Also do I need to fill in the form on the IIM Trichy website?
OA = 98.45( individually over 96 in both)
10th = 93
12th = 90
grads= 89.5
GEM , dint get a call , why ?; i know there are many with better stats and they dint, but why ?
