Overall 131.5 91 % NC-OBC What are the chances of call and final conversation??
Some facts about IIFT shortlist and interview calls:
1. Calls are usually given in 1:5 ratio (That's five interview calls for a seat). 2100 calls for 420 seats. 220 Delhi + 140 Kolkata + 60 Kakinada. Calls are sent category wise maintaining the same 1:5 ratio while also keeping in mind the gender diversity they want to maintain in the campus.
2. Kakinada campus isn't operational yet and hence the seats are accommodated in Delhi and Kolkata campuses. No banner like IIFT-Kakinada. Think of that campus as an additional increase in seats in Delhi and Kolkata campuses, for now.
3. IIFT and XLRI do not consider your academic profile while giving out interview calls. Keeping this post IIFT specific, the only things that matter are your overall marks (obviously) , your sectionals and your gender. General Male category has the highest overall cutoff followed by General Female category, OBC NCL Male cateogry and so on.
4. The weightage over the past three years for overall conversion has been:
Written test: 55%
PI: 23% (Although not explicitly mentioned anywhere, if they're weighing your profile somewhere, this has to be the place for it)
GD: 10%
WAT: 10%
Gender Diversity: 2%
Before anybody jumps in with figures of 65% and stuff, IIFT comes under the pruview of RTI and these are all their own answers. 65% was the weightage given to the written test before 2017.
5. Sectional Cutoffs: Sectional Cutoffs have been there in IIFT for many years now and as one of the seniors posted here a few days back, the last time they weren't enforced was way back in 2010. However slim the chances may seem and it's more of an optimism by GK-hurts like me, sectional cutoffs are likely to be there. Also with only 4 sections this time as compared to 6 over the last two years, the number of candidates failing to clear the sectional cutoffs will decrease.
6. But NTA didn't mention sectional cutoffs in the scorecard: Of course they didn't. They provided you with the scorecard. With your marks and percentiles (NTA scores) like all exam taking agencies do. CAT, XAT etc. (TCs in their case). They provide you with their scorecards and then the colleges call you based on their individual criteria. Sectional cutoffs used to be mentioned in the IIFT scorecard until last year but maybe IIFT will decide it internally and straightaway publish the shortlist. IIFT decides the cutoffs, not NTA. The good thing is it's usually pretty low, especially for GK. My personal opinion, anything above 6 makes you a definite contender. 4.5-6 is borderline and below that, it's difficult. But let's hope that I'm wrong.
7. Shortlist: It's simply a PDF that has the names of candidates shortlisted for the GDPI process in the order of your registration numbers. Gender, category or marks/percentiles aren't mentioned there.
8. Interview process: You'll get an email from IIFT roughly 3 weeks before the interview. Interview dates are different for different cities. Last year, it was held from 12-20 Feb in Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad, Lucknow, Ahmedabad & Bangalore and 21-24 in Delhi and Kolkata (Interviews for these two locations are conducted in the campuses itself).
9. When will the shortlist arrive: No idea. NTA made a promise about the results and we all saw how that turned out. At least they released it. IIFT didn't even make any such claims. They can come anytime between today and God knows when. However, it doesn't make much sense for them to hold off the shortlist for too long now so I think the shortlist will be out this week itself. But, don't be surprised if it isn't. And never, ever, ever trust AO and their words.
10. Category Sectional Cutoff: No such thing. Sectional cutoffs are the same for every category and gender. Only the overall cutoff varies.
11. EWS: Dicey at the moment. There has been no announcement about increase in number of seats by IIFT so it'll most likely be included in the genral category calls itself. Of course, with a different cutoff which again, is difficult to predict at this juncture.
12. Final Word: As concrete as all these facts are, they can change at a moment's notice. IIFT might decide to do away entirely with Gender specific cutoffs or even the sectional cutoffs. The weightage for components might change. In that case, don't make me Dankus 2.0.
All the best. Cheers and let's hope the dreaded PDF is on its way.
