Any updates on the waitlist movement for Delhi?
AN ANSWER I FOUND THAT IS JUST WRITTEN ON QUORA TO A QUESTION ON IIFT KOLKATA. I AM IN IIFT DELHI, BUT I FELT KOLKATA STUDENTS SHOULD KNOW WHAT THEY ARE SIGNING UP FOR.
I remember going through an answer that spoke harshly of IIFT Kolkata a while ago. I thought it must be a frustrated student who was not lucky or skillful enough to get a good job, so, he took to this platform to vent his anguish. But, I have come to know of some harsh realities about the college and some issues lately and I felt I should share this with my fellow Quorans.
My credibility: I’m a fresher(as of 2019). I got shortlisted for IIFT Kolkata campus. I know a senior from IIFT K who is half way through the course and she is the source of my info. I trust her.
Reality: IIFT Kolkata and IIFT Delhi never come together except for placements when Kolkata students travel to Delhi. Even then, more than 40 students got placed in their summer companies by the time Kolkata students reached Delhi. On top of it, below listed companies don’t consider Kolkata for the placement process.

and a few more to begin with. The Placement Committee of Kolkata has very little say in matters of placements before the Delhi Placement Committee. Delhi students walk into interviews first and most times, companies finish choosing before Kolkata students get a chance.
Bias: To top it all off, not even the shortlisting process is fair. The Placement Committee offers to select the students and push them in the processes who succeed to impress them in the first two months. So, only those who are good at standing out with or without doing any work get a chance to get into good companies.

Resumes: The logo on Kolkata student’s resume reads IIFT Kolkata which makes it easier for the companies to eliminate students.
Internal Conflicts: In light of new events, I’ve come to know that the student body selected students from their close circle for handling an event and a huge fight broke in between the students.
Lastly, I received a few screenshots of messages from a Placement Committee member of Kolkata who threatened his fellow batch-mates and encouraged students to downvote an answer he felt uncomfortable with.
