Welcome Pradeep..

Hi Sushant,

Last year I applied for FPM - IIMC. 1 thing which is still not clear to me is, do they expect us to be involved in research post FPM? In my interview, they asked me if I would go back to industry (i work in IT) or would I be involved in teaching/research? I ended up answering I'll b back to industry. The panal wasn't convinced. Can u try to clear the doubt.

Thanks,
Nancy

Hi Nancy,

Thanks for asking a pertinent question. Indeed this is a common dilemma wheather one would like to take up full-time research/academics as a career after a 4-year FPM or go back and join Industry.

Let me make it clear that FPM programmes (of all IIMs, IIFM, IRMA, MDI, etc.) are designed to groom future academicians and researchers for respective fields. Off late, doors to industry have also opened up and people are joining consultancy organisations post-FPMs, but still a large pool goes to academics only.

So I may suggest you do your reality-check regarding what you want to pursue after investing 4-years in an FPM programme? How an organization will gain by hiring an FPM degree-holder (who is more inclined towards research) rather than a hardcore IT guy?

I would be happy to answer any specific queries pertaining to IIFM's FPM programme/ admission process..

Cheers,
Sushant

Hi crushformba,
It seems to me that u have got a call for PGDFM (MBA) programme for GD-PI. For FPM, I am afraid you are not elgibile because a master's degree is one of the minimum eligibility criteria.
As far as scope is concerned, it is largely in academics/ faculty-level positions in B-schools (You may like to read my reply to Nancy, posted right above your query).
I hope it helps.
Cheers,
Sushant

Hi purpleiris,
Glad to have your query.
However, IIFM being a sectoral institute, I may not be the right person for that. You may look out for this in some MDI thread that specifically addresses this.
All the Best
Sushant

By any chance, does IIFM have (or plan to have, in future) a Part-time / Distance Prog equivalent to FPM/PhD like XLRI or IITs?

sir please provide me about my application form.. i sent it but there is no confirmation by iifm mail or message or call.. please provide me soo ..
