Hi everyone,

I recently got an admit from IE Business School for its November intake of International MBA.
My profile: Engineer, decent acads, strong extra-curricular, 740 GMAT 210 TOEFL, 3 years work-ex in Professional services

Everyonw who is applying for the same or has already got an admit, please post on this thread so that we can share our experiences.

Cheers!!

I'm in too ! Joining IE - IMBA Nov. '09.

Any others out there ?

Hey BlackDog, were you able to figure out from the documents sent across by IE the deadline by which the 20% fee + contribution to IE Foundation is to be paid in order to reserve a seat?

Hey,

I don't think there's a deadline. Just reserve a seat in advance for your preferred intake.

btw.. I have an admit too. Contemplating whether to take the April or the Nov intake. Would want to discuss a few more things with you guys.. some apprehensions on Placements abroad and in India. Have heard mixed reviews on IE. Do share your take.

I have also heard about some apprehensions regarding placements from IE Business School. But as long as you are decent in Spanish, I dont think it should be a problem. As far as I am concerned, I am looking to get an international experience through IE, and plan to start learning Spanish as soon as I finalize to go to IE. Placements in India have also been severely hit recently...so you never know whats in store for u!!!

Point noted. Btw, which intake are you considering and have you applied for any scholarships?

I am considering the november intake...I have not yet applied for any scholarships...i have collected the forms for all the available scholarships for the india region from their website...most of them have the same 2 questions...i hope to get on with the scholarship formalities after submitting the 20% fee + contribution to IE fund....will look for more options of schols once im done with that...what about u?? april / nov?

Hi,

I have been admitted to the Masters in Advanced Finance at IE. Wondering if any of you have information about strength of IE in corporate finance and its reputation.

Thanks,
MIAF

Hi anagpal,

I too have got a definitive admission for IMBA in IE. But i am still in a fix whether to go for April 2009 or Nov. 2009 intake. Would be great if we can discuss this further. It would also be helpful if we can talk over phone. In between how r u planning to go ahead??

Rgds.

A thumbs up to ANagpal, Triggerman, Lets_see1 and v_g1973 !! Congratulations !!

Anagpal & Lets_see1,
The "mixed reviews" that you've heard - anything concrete there, or just the usual stuff about
1). the need for students to look for a job on their own, as against the Indian practice of a placement day/week ?
2). the need to know Spanish to get a good job in Spain?

Folks - I have a confirmed admit for April/Nov 09 and April 10..However i have not confirmed it as yet

Still in decision phase and have spoken to a current student there..

Not concrete, but am assuming someone's viewpoint (don't know if we should worry about it too much):
a. not a great Career services cell
b. spain and L.America centric
c. not as remunerative as other B-Schools (though this i think is a Bias).

I'm inclined not to take all of this seriously, as it is a great school for an international experience and would open a whole lot of opportunity. Just wanted to clarify. It'll be a big investment. Do let me know if you know any alumni we can get in touch with. Also, will try sending u a personal message if I figure out how to!

Cheers

... and what does the current student have to say? Would be great to hear from someone who is already there?

Hey BlackDog,

well my information might help you-:

1) Well as in most of thetop MBA schools, In IE also you have to primarily depend on your professional network and job fairs for Jobs. IE also has a job help website and centre which helps students to find the right job. The jobs are posted here with the help of alumnis and companies wanting to recruit.

2) Secondly, the need to know spanish is, if you are looking to seek a job in Spain. On the contrary most of the Indian students move to Singapore, southeast asia or UK for jobs (again it depends on your network and if some alumni is helping you).

Hey...congrats!!! I will be opting for the november intake - multiple reasons: 1. that wil give 2 years for recruitments in oct-2010...global economic situation might cool down till then, 2. i plan to apply for some scholarships as well before the session...i need some time for that 3. i am not mentally prepared to leave very soon 😃

Adding to that, IE Business school organizes a recruitment / job fair around early october, and thousands of students / alumni / companies participate....a majority of students get placed at that time...

Yeah, and I'm sure each of us who's applied to IE knew all this.
So why the sudden concern now ?

Paralysis by Analysis, eh ??

Good news for the admits (and to the applicants, too) !

IE has done really well in the rankings this time :-

BusinessWeek (BW) : 2'nd amongst non-US programs.
Financial Times (FT) : 8'th globally.

Major improvement on both rankings !!

Hey Guys,

I would be joining the apr 2009 intake. just figuring out the finances part..

Lets plan meeting up at least for all the probables who are in delhi..i'll be gr8 to know each other well before we settle down in madrid!

cheers
