Module 4
Why start of an Interview so important:
Start of any interview is all about breaking the ice. It starts with a general question is thrown on the candidate.
"Tell us something about yourself" "Tell us about your family background" "You are coming from far location, how was your journey"
PURPOSE OF SUCH QUESTIONS: With such questions, the interviewers try to give you a chance to speak for 1-2 minutes. Because continuous speaking for 1-2 minutes shows your confidence level/ fluency/ conveying capability and overall aspects of your personality.
So take these first several questions as an opportunity to present yourself well.
Why?
1. Because you have to impress the panel that you are capable/ good speaker/ able to convey.
2. Because you never know, if you will be able to answer other questions. or how your further interview will move.
3. You can mould the further interview in a direction where you want to take it.
Throw few catchy words during initial conversation, which they will catch and further ask you about that.
I have experienced few candidates speak very less to answer such question.
Examples (Avoid such short answers)
Q. Why do you want to join bank
A. Because I like banking jobs. or Because since my childhood I wanted to join bank.
Q. Will you leave banking job after you get an engineering job?
A. No, I will not leave.
Of course, if they ask you the capital of Kenya, you should speak only one word "Nairobi" but if they ask something subjective then try to reply in subjective term. And give a clue to the interviewers for Further questions.
