Hello. I'm a guy from Kolkata. I'm going to share my interview experience in IBPS PO 2014.
Written cut- off/ I obtained (total marks):
Math= 7/27 (50), GI= 10/17 (50), English= 8/15 (40), Computer= 11/17 (20), GK= 10/16 (40)
Total cut- off= 82. I got 92.
Final cut- off = 49.6. I got 51.4. So, calculation says, I must have got 73. But the interview was somehow different.
The interview took place at the Staff Training College of UBI in Kolkata. I was dressed in formal full sleeve shirt and navy blue colored jeans. I wore black boots that day after a long time. I covered my watch under the sleeve and though advised otherwise, I took my bag inside. That was a 6- member panel ( among them 1 lady was present). Interview was done in English. Previous candidates told that the questions were predominantly HR- based (I didn't make out anything from that term anyway). One candidate said that he was asked the names of the deputy governors of RBI. Whatever, I entered on my chance. The questions were asked as follows:-
**Where do you live?
**Who else is there in your family?
**What do they do?
**Where do you work currently?
*(I was that time working as MTS in ESIC, posted in Kolkata)
**Where is the workplace situated?
**How long did it take to attend the interview location from home and how did you come?
**What is your work in your office?
**Do you like your present job?
**What are the games have you played?
**what are your hobbies?
**What is the movie you have last seen?
**Describe the story- line.
**Have you ever leaded some people? Describe those instances.
*(I have not been a frequent leader so far. But occasional leadership experience was there for me.)
**So, you're not a regular leader, rather you've experience of sporadic leadership?
**What have you learned from your life?
Frankly, I was expecting a harder experience. Though among the first two occasions (Clerk/ SWO interviews), I succeeded once; I was never much tensionised.
Presently, I'm working as Postal Assistant in India Post in Kolkata and going to join soon as Tax Assistant in Customs. Yes, I have ditched bank job twice (as a clerk and as an Officer. I have my reasons). But, those who want to succeed, I want to tell them from what I saw- getting selected as PO is easier than the same of SWO. And, SSC jobs are harder to crack. Another thing; never go for over- boundaries. Just mark what you know. Don't take chances. You'll be killed by the negative numbers and ultimately by the sectional cut- offs. Be precise while studying and be sure while answering. And be prepared for the interview beforehand. Building up high stories in front of the panel is not a good idea. Tell them the truth. And if you have something which no way can be told, make a good cover- up before you go. And try to avoid lies as much as possible because they are expecting you to be and they expert in understanding your moral reasons you are going to tell before them. Good luck.
