me into IBA BLR...paid the security deposit...still waitin for the receipt...
reg the 1st installment and hostel fees hav time until the 24th of this month..
do hav 1 question..(best answered by seniors)..if at all not able to get a room in hostel... did learn tht there is a pg outside within a 2mins (ref.to post in Life@IBA by 2ruthexposed) walking distance...help me with the present cost involved for tht..do hav to make arrangements for tht.....OR can i req the management to make a res. at hostel and quote them the bank loan pblm...its taking a hell lot of time.....

There is no PG outside campus.. This is just an extrended Hostel facility.. All rules applied to in-campus hostel also applies here.. It is near campus...just a stone's throw away... Facilities more or less similar..No extra cost.. Same as in-campus hostel cost.... For loan....present them the same Hostel fees sheet...
Other routine queries which will be duly answered by us (seniors), I request all the new members of IBA to be a part of this forum. Introduce urselves and know each other before u hit the campus.

Before answering ur queries my questions to you:
1. How serious are u of doing an MBA this year??
2. Do u have any options other than IBA for doin an MBA??
3. If yes, then what are ur chances of makin it to any of those options??
4. Wud u choose ur specialisation based on what specialisations are best in whichever B-school u get thru or do u have ur own interests in terms of specialisation??
Now, coming to ur queries:
1. Faculty has always been a strength of IBA..we have guys comin from all over the place with varied experiences, which makes the classrom interaction very interesting and very helpful. But one thing to be kept in mind here is that we cannot expect spoon feeding from all faculty, we have to put in our own efforts to ensure that we make most of the course on offer. I think the top b-schools in our country are not different either, they have world class faculty, but then students are supposed to do their homework well before coming to class.
2. Placements have been good so far: can get better...by that i mean its ultimately the students who are to get placed...so if we as students take up the challenge for companies to want us rather we wanting companies..things can be better. Statistically speakin...last years highest was 9 Lakhs (Foreign Placement) with an avg. hovering around 4 lakhs.
3. Infrastructure is pretty decent...u might have got a sneak peek into the highlights of the campus from the brochure.
4. For details on fees i suggest you speak with the admissions cell @ IBA to get the correct picture. Same with loans...they help you with arranging for loans..and will let you know the list of banks where u can apply..etc etc.
5. As far as specialisations go....Finance and Marketing are the hottest specs at IBA. but that doesnt mean other specs are bad or not worth it...it all depends on ur interests and what u want to take up as ur field of specialisation...if u are clear abt it...then Sky is the Limit.
The solution to ur perplexity wud be a sound decision backed by good research and conviction on your part to evaluate ur options..comparision of the pros and cons....unless ur pretty sure on ur part never take any decision.

Congrats to you on making it to the PGPRM course at IBA. Well, the PGPRM course is a brand new one at IBA so i think no one would be in a position to elaborate on the course outline n all other details. The course is being conducted in association with RAI(Retial Association of India) so be rest assured that you wud get the best possible course structure and faculty as well. If u wish to know more on that i suggest you should call the Admissions Cell @ IBA to get a better picture.

Well, Retailing is a new course in IBA. I guess, Some of the general management subjects in the first year will be common for you guys. So same faculties might come. But then Specific Retailing subjects would be handled by Dedicated experts in retailing.. One PROF named Subhodip, if at all he comes then u guys will rock.. He is one of the best in India.
But be careful of jumping to retailing because there is boom... never take such decision.. Its ur interest and conviction and capability which should decide ur decision..

well i am deeply interested since last 2 years in this field of work but, wasn't able to find any specific course except in Welingkar but it was linked only to pantaloons so felt intuitively not too good about it. I did my BSc and now want to expand myself more in retail and specifically in Agri-retail. thanx for ur help

Yes thats good... Buddy dont undermine Pantaloons in any way..It is the mother of all retail in India and its fundas are simply awesome....It has broken all rules and barriers..Any retail course would actually start and end with pantaloons! Such is its effect and clout... So personally i feel welingkar retail course is good...By the agri-retail is a in thing...ITC sagar etc coming into picture... Retail is such a intoxicating subject ..u will simply enjoy....

It seems ppl of 07-09 batch r more attracted and inclined towards ORKUT than PAGALGUY...couple of comm..in ORKUT for 07-09...arnd 20 members...
no one has come forward to ask any queries..inspite of the fact tht letting them know abt such a good thread helping us out.....neways at the end of the day its upto an individual to decide which is more beneficial.....
coming to my ques for 2day....
the first hand info a person wld get abt the insti..is from its website..
but logging into our website the home page still shows us the gd/pi dates (gt over) and above all tht the footnote which runs says tht ;;"the last date to apply is mar21 for pgpm/pgprm" ...not to be taken sarcastically...aint this should be updated...and present the current scenario....cant the students committee take the respo.. and work on it...
once again ..not in a bad sense...
just a frnd of mine logged in to see abt the coll..and he a student from a premier insti. in INDIA had a opportunity to pull a string on me....
this one if does nt belong to this thread ....am sorry and pls accept my apology in advance if this hurts someone...

Cant help Buddy... Orkut seems more favourite amongst youngsters...
All websites including the Internal mail network of IBA is run and managed by a team of students... Although there is team from IBA management to support them, the students run it. There are various club websites and Intranet which are developed and managed by students. I guess, this team is not in campus right now to make adequate updates.. Once you guys are in campus, u can take this issue forward and make changes in the system for benefit of all...
