can anybody post the essay questions for the mba application of hkust last year.

nice to know abt HKU. what about the placement scenario. is MBA degree of HKU enough to get you a decent job in Asia (as an ISB/IIM degree in India assures a good job).
is the degree given value by the recruiters? or is it the pre MBA work ex, which matters more than degree(like NUS, where MBA degree is not given any importance).

and what about the brand name of HKU in India?

Hi all,

I am starting this thread for discussions on Hong Kong University (HKU) 2009 application/interview process and admits. Here we can discuss about what all is required during the admission process and final admits and beyond..

Its really time we take the initiative and make this a platform useful for budding HKU MBA aspirants. Admission is yet to open and I see not much activity for HKU. May be this placeholder will give it a boost.

@ Mods: I could not find any active thread regarding 2009 HKU admits. I think that there may be some info in 2008 admits thread which are general in nature and may be useful here as well. Could some merging of some selective posts be done. Just in case it can be..

I remember creating this Thread a couple of days back, but I didn't find it in the main Thread. Did the Mods delete it? (I didn't get any intimation regarding this). Is this thread repetitive?

If you notice, Q1 & Q3 are basically asking the same info.
How can we answer the two questions with different answers?

Hey Amit,

I think u can write a wholistic answer for it....explaining ur future goals...how mba would help u ...and how u would help HKU MBA class (can put an elemnt of diversity)
I would say treat this as a chance to explain all that you didt get a chance to explain the MBA Admissions' office in the rest of the application...:snipersm:

I have chosen London Business School Track.

I will surely join this Univ. I also got final offer from Univ of Pittaburgh,USA
bt i will go for HKU.

really sorry for replying late. i hope u read this b4 u go for ur interview.

1. What questions were thrown at you?
i had a face to face interview and it continued for almost 30 mins.
there were general questions like y MBA, y hku, how do u plan to network, wat specialisation r u looking for, how r u beter than other indian students who hae applied etc.
2. How many candidates were there?
I m not sure about how man candidates as all were given a paticular time slot. this year they r having 50 seats.
3. How many people were there in the i/v panel? Any Indians in the panel?
2 in a panel. one was indian. Sachin tipnis, he is the one who will take yr interview. along wid him was Chris.
4. What kind of profile and qualities they are looking for?
they r looking for ppl with clear career goals.
5. How long was the i/v?

Depends wat r u looking for. in terms of global vision, nobody in asia can match HKU. and if we compare it wid ISB, all i can say is dat ISB has a brand which is quite known in india unlik HKU but then u will gain an unmatchable exp in LBS/CBS which r known very well through out the wrld.
