I know it's politically incorrect for me to ask this, but are you people Indians? Maybe we can have an optional race field 😃 This info does not add any value to anything but neither does the thread - but yes, it would be interesting to know. The bonding that we have on PG - that we can't find on other B school boards - is largely because almost all of us are Indians and we are just instantly comfortable with each other because of this shallow fact I guess.

Permanent Resident : UK
Citizenship: Indian
Currently based in: Delhi
Profession: IT
Target B-Schools: LBS, Tepper, Tuck ....
Intended year of entry: After my mess ups in 2007 i am now targeting 2008

Dear Susie:

I was thinking whether your comment deserved a response or not but finally decided to reply. You might have tried to be provocative but ended being fuzzy, rude and tasteless. Oppossed to you, as an open minded and well traveled person, I can understand the feeling of belonging that such a huge virtual community of Indians creates. In this regard I cant see how a small number of foreigners could affect/damage that bonding. In fact, I think diversity adds value this website, you should learn how and when to use that buzzword, not only for the sake of sounding smart. Also, after reading your valueless comment, I am greatly concerned about your chances of success in b-school abroad. If you can only feel comfortable interacting with Indians, for sure you will struggle discussing business/academic/personal issues with Peruvians, Egyptians, Australians, etc... you are not posting on the right threads, you should check out B-schools in India and forget about leaving your xtremely narrow shell in Hindustan. For everyones luck, I am sure you represent a marginal minority of old-fashioned nationalism which has no space left in this increasingly interconnected and multicultural word. Go grab some peanuts and seriously think about your future.....

THE GURU

NRI with dual citizenship are also encouraged to post on this thread!
Thx in advance for your input.

errr.. preuvianguru i think there is a possibility that you may have misunderstood susie's post. I think what she meant was that it will be more interesting to include ethnic origin in the posts as well. However i cannot be very sure so prob best to let her clarify if she wants.

on a different note - Dude! your english isn't so bad. I think you needlessly fret about taking the GMAT!! After reading several of your posts I am sure that your verbal score is not going to prevent you from scoring 700+ at all. It has to be something else. Your lack of confidence may be. Def not your Eng.

Dear Nixbert:

Nice to hear from you again. Unfortunately, I do not share your views about Susies intentions. Going through her post and reading things like "dont add value" isnt positive feedback. In the event I am wrong, which I truly doubt after reading her post, I apologize for my words. However, it would have been much easier to keep it simple and propose the idea the way you (understood)/did. As for the GMAT, I already decided to destroy the exam (check out post #35, Ivey MBA thread). I guess lack of "GMAT" confidence would be more precise as it tends to be interpreted as a general attitude on me, which definitely is not the case :)

Well, I dont want to further expand on these issues, rather remain loyal to the nature of this thread. So anybody who feels like contributing here is more than welcome to post. And, just in case, constructive criticism is encouraged and valuable ideas are highly appreciated.

Thx

@ Peruvianguru

Race does appear rude and out of place ( the only one I would like to concentrate on is the one to the MBA admit) however, something like an "Indian Connection" would make a lot of sense to all of us--especialy when we have another "how- Swadesh" happening, maybe something like "the only connection with India I have is thru PG" could also be one of the options.

And think about increasing the scope of the thread to include the blokes working/studying out of India at present as well. Or ones with a permanent base out of India as well.

" International Citizens" What say?
H.

@ Susie
the reason why we bond so well on PG is because all-of-us have just one thing in common ie all of us are in different stages of getting into an MBA.

And because most of us here are willing to throw a constructive opinion to the MBA quest--and because most of us are willing to apologise for a faux pas.

I found Susie's post to be little immature but Peruvianguru, i have to admit that your address to Susie is several counts higher in bad taste. Dude, if you have a problem with someone then PM her or use some lesser stinging words. I mean, seriously, you need to edit that post out there.

Faux pas... I guess harshg is right. If some of you feel/felt offended by my "stinging words", I sincerely apologize. However, I found Susies comments offensive too, therefore my reaction. As far as editing goes, I wont edit any comment I post here but what can/will do is PM if future controversy arises. So hopefully this will be my last comment devoted to issues not directly related to the nature of this thread. :argue:

I have stirred up a hornet's nest here. I can't believe this and I don't want to explain myself. Those of you who have given me the benefit of doubt, thank you.

To the moron who is groaning at all my posts - get a life.

*whistles in admiration at the angry young woman* An old cliche comes to mind. Something to do with mountains, molehills, and the like. Can't remember quite what, tho'. Good to see we can all co-exist in harmony.

wow....and i thot this was a MBA forum of sorts...lol

Mr.Peruvianman/dude/whateva.......buddy, i think it was uncalled for, the chastising Susie bit!!! I am not indian but have known indians all my life, and they are amongst the most welcoming and nice ppl out there....that said, doesnt mean all are the same!!!

I thnk Susie might have rocked ur boat, perhaps wit her...u might say, not totally politically correct wording, if at all....but seriously man, ease up here.....and get wit the groove like all of us....ur posts are always an interesting read, perhaps too long for me, but interesting nevertheless:)

and lets jst share our experiences and tips and advice wit each other...thats what we are here for after all:)

For all its worth, I sooo regret not having made more indian friends while i was at uni in the US, cuz they are (i am generalizing here!!) incredibly sincere and genuine compared to a lot of the other intl students i have met.

well, thats jst my 2 cents........lets all pray for world peace, lower fuel prices, higher scholarships and 800s in gmat:)

ciao people,

longhorn

p.s. damn i forgot, since its the intl citizens list, here is me:
Bangladesh born, UAE bred, US degreed and a total citizen du monde!!:)

Cool ,

The only reason I come here is not 'cause it's full of desis but rather because the tone of the conversation is civil and people actually get to exchange informative. It's quite tragic to see this forum regress into an infantile mud slinging contest .On the lighter side,I recommend having a face off next time with the more churlish and unbelieveably rude bloggers on BW Forum. If not for anything else it would atleast make for some quality entertainment.I have already started taking ideas for our new PG pennant when we square off with the BW dudes/dudettes(suggestions are welcome).

Peruvian,we welcome diversity on this forum and it;s been a pleasure getting to know oyu but honestly you need to cut back on all that self righteous babble.I'm sure it's harmless banter and having followed Susie's posts for quite some time I'm sure she meant what she posted in the right spirit and context.

Peruvianguru good to see you in PG. And as far as your above comments goes. Peruvianguru has clearly written
Hi all, I think it would be interesting to know how many international citizens/prospective non-Indian MBA students are subscribed to PG. So, to kick off this initiative....

I mean this thread is for prospective non-indianz MBA students. So no need to of otherz to dwell in this thread and give comment about it. Even i too now made mistake by commenting on it. But i commented to tell other ppl not to make this thread with list of non realated thread commentz. He wanted to knw how many ppl are here. So let this thread be for his purpose.

@
Peruvianguru

I believe, You made this thread for a purpose. So buddy just ignore other commentz including mine too:satisfie:. Because in life THANKS and GROAN,BITTER and SWEETNESS TALK, CONSTRUCTIVE and DESTRUCTIVE COMMENTZ are alwayz there.

lets all pray for world peace, lower fuel prices, higher scholarships and 800s in gmat:)

Well... There's some cause effect scenario here :)
lower fuel prices will, to some extent, create world peace
and 800s in GMAT will, to some extent, get higher scholarships

sorry longhorn. cudnt resist
BTW - will u change ur name to "vista" 2 yrs down the line???

Anyway - relax everyone :)
I think whatever happened was uncalled for, from all involved parties. Susie's comments, though politically incorrect, shud not have evoked such strong emotions from Guru 😃 Though i agree that susie cud have worded it differently, guru was a bit hasty (in my opinion) in jumping to conclusions. But we all are allowed our momentary lapse of control aren't we :)

On a really serious note - I guess susie's getting really famous, whether she likes it or not 😉 By the time she gets to school, she's gonna have a serious queue of disciples following her every word :p

On a seriously serious note (as against a jokingly serious note as above) it is great to see folks from the world over joining this community. This is definitely a reflection of the strong performance of PGs in the international MBA admission (and beyond) arena and also the result of the hard work put in by the guys at the HQ. Participation from internationals (i hate to use the term - but now i have to :)) will only improve the forum and help others in multiple ways.

I am actually in search of a rich oil baroness (and so is Mr.PG himself). So i'll keep a tab on this thread to see if a person with that profile posts So all u others, dont let tempers fray and kill the thread before that happens 😞

Dear Susie:

Warm greetings. Although its not the first time we both face controversy (and most likely wont be the last one), I WANT TO APOLOGIZE FOR MY RUDE AND TASTELESS POST. Whatever your comment may or may not have implied/meant, one does never have to lose composture and tolerance. So please accept my sincere apologies and best wishes in your MBA admissions quest (in India or abroad!). Kisses

Dear Longhorn:

Thx for your positive words and vibe. I absolutely agree with you in that Indians are one of the most welcoming and friendly people; I have personally confirmed their well deserved reputation. So lets keep reinforcing PGs esprit de corp through interactive international cooperation! best wishes
