Target Jan 2012 or Sep 2012; your chances of getting HEC scholarships are more. Also you have the opportunity to get Eiffel Scholarship which is about 1.1K Euros/month during the course of your program. This is provided by French Govt. and you have greater chances of getting the same when you are in Sep intake.
The exchange program & the recruiters timings affect the intake you choose. I would suggest you to go for Sep Intake; Make use of the next few months in learning Finance and preparing yourself for the MBA interviews..
By the way, how many yrs of exp do you have?

I already have an admit for the Jan'2012 session, just wondering what scholarships could i apply for. I did not get the need based scholarship, but also filled up the form for forte, eiffel and loreal- awaiting results for these.
And in general how to go about the placements once i start the mba program.
There seems to be a lot of panic as far as HEC placements go.
The school seems to have a break in Jul, what do ppl generally do , do they work or is it vacation time.
Also what is it that you are doing currently.

GMAT score : 710
B.Tech %: 81
MS (diatant learning) CGPA: 7.88
Job experience: 6.5 years (IT), 3 years in cleient-facing position (US)
Can you tell me how important it is to have the knowledge of French language if I opt for applying to HEC? Also what are the most important factors to crack thre?
Do they take telephonic or skype interview in case of an acceptance or physical presence is must!

Congrats on getting the admission call from HEC. I have applied to HEC batch starting 2012 too in the April19 cycle.
I have three questions. Pls advice.
1. Which cycle did you apply in and what are the chances would you say for someone applying in my cycle in terms of the possible number of seats left?
2. How long before did they get back on the interview call? I sent in my application on 18th April so that would be 4 working days from then.
3. How was the interview and may I ask what did you do your presentation on?

1- I had applied through the first round for HEC, i think the deadline was in Feb sometime
I think the batch size is smaller for Jan'12. No harm giving it a shot.
2- I got an interview call the next day.
3- The interview was general stuff, why mba, why hec and how will you contribute to hec. The presentation was on one of the business ideas that i had written i would like to pursue in my application.

i guess just need to be yourself and casual and in your mind know why you want to do this course from HEC.
