Dear All,

We start this thread to make you aware of the happenings at the Asia Graduate School of Business, Hyderabad. We, the students of PGPM Batch 2010-2011 take this opportunity to also answer your questions. You may want to clarify your queries via this thread. A brief introduction about Asia GSB before we start off -

Asia GSB is a member of the ITM Group of Institutions, a not-for-profit organization established in 1991 and chaired by Dr. P.V. Ramanna. It offers a one year PGPM jointly with Fisher College of Business (FCOB), The Ohio State University(A Public funded University), USA. Apart from enriched curriculum, students also undergo extensive 1.5 months US Internship and 1.5 months of India Internship. Dr. D.K. The PGPM 2010-11 batch consists of students with work-experience and a GMAT score. Its a well diversified one with students from different backgrounds like Banking & Insurance, IT, Agro Processing, Research, Hospitality Management, Construction, Medicine and Marine Engineering.

Cheers,

Since the PGPM batch started on 1st July 2010, we have had quality and well experienced faculty from IIM, IIT and XLRI at Asia GSB.

Few of the names include -
1) Workshop conducted by Mr Mirza Yawar Baig, one of the leading consultants.
2) Business Research Methods by Mr Atanu Adhikari from IIM, Kozhikode.
3) Organizational Behaviour by Mr. Abhijit Gangopadhyay, XLRI Jamshedpur.
4) Financial Accounting by Mr B.V.Phani from IIT Kanpur.

And the list goes on...

Cheers,

the Fisher faculty involvement is really appreciable, marketing management classes by Dr. Unnava Rao(dean FCOB) was superb, looking forward for the lectures by fisher faculty....

hey niranjan...are u the current student there in asia gsb...well, can you please provide more insights on the involvement of the Fisher faculty and their contribution towards Asia GSB?

Hello Joy,

Nice to see your interest towards the thread. Asia GSB has a academic linkage with Fisher College of Business. Out of the total 6 modules from the curriculum, 1 subject out of every module is taught by renowned Fisher Faculty. Few of the names include Dr Unnava Rao, Dr Anil Makhija, Dr Dan Oglivee, Dr J. Dial, Prof Andrea Pudhromme. The Fisher faculty visits the Asia GSB campus to teach the subjects. The Fisher faculty also contributes significantly towards knowing the interests of the students so that it helps them in securing relevant internships for the students during their US visit.
I hope this answers your question. Do let me know if you need any further info.

Hi Niranajan,

I was offered a seat at Asia GSB's PGPM course for the 2010-11 intake, but I did not joined it.. as the school could not give a Clear Placement report. This was due to the fact that.. it was the FIRST batch.. & the students were still continuing with the course & were in US (Fisher).

I was specially interested with this course.. as it has the support of the prestigious ITM group & Ohio-Fisher as its Exchange school.

Please do let me know about the PLACEMENTS of the 1st Batch.

Regards,
Dr Saurabh.

Hello Saurabh,

I would definitely clarify your doubt. But its interesting to know that, though you have pretty good admits from US/UK universities, you still stick to this question of yours.

Well, for the 1st PGPM batch 2009-2010, the International Internship was held at the end of the year during May which is not the case with this year's batch as we have the International Internship during the mid of the curriculum. Students from the 1st batch have extended their International internship by other 3 months and are still in US. They would complete their internships by mid August. Being said that, most of the students plan to stay back in US with some continuing with the current companies where they do their internships and some are being assisted by Fisher COB Placements cell for worldwide placements. In addition to this, few students after completing their US internships would return back to India for interviews scheduled with various companies by August end. The 2nd batch students also have the advantage of their CVs being added to the Fisher COB database and would be part of the placements season at the FCOB campus in US.

I hope this answers your question.

Thanks,

Hi Niranjan,

Thanks for your response.

Well, despite having multiple admits in various UK/EU b-schools.. I am having this genuine concern of Placements.. due to the fact that I am looking for a Career change from Clinical Healthcare to Corporate Healthcare.. so this becomes extremely Important for me to Attend a Business schools.. which has Fantastic Placement statistics.. as I cannot just afford.. 'Good Education'.
This is the reason that I did not joined ANY of these foreign schools.. as they don't assure Placements.. but Prepare you to work in any Managerial set-up & Placements is not a cup of tea.. for them.

So.. in Asia GSB.. they are in Good track.. but haven't got Placements yet.
I would be looking forward for the Official Placement Statistics/Report of Asia GSB-PGPM course.

All the best.

-Saurabh.

Agreed, Makes sense. You can keep any eye on this thread. We will keep this thread updated as we get to know about the detailed placement report.

Its an end to another fulfilling session by Mr Satish Kalra, Dean, IMI Delhi. The Personality Development Program has proved to be of immense help to the students in terms of judging their Intelligence, Emotional and Spiritual quotients.

i have been following this thread.
I wanted to know about the placements of students of first batch who have returned from the US,their position, company and pay package. The website says AsiaGSB will be focusing on strong placement activity, but not actual placements.
Could not understand the faculty that is on visiting and who would be in house(FCOB or otherwise)?

How much value addition will be with the International Immersion Program in the USA,internships and other field projects for already experienced students in a fully cramped one year program?

Hi all,

I hope that the current PGPM students would be quite busy with their studies & assignments.
It has been quite a long time & I think that the 1st Batch PGPM guys, would have graduated by now.
So, I would like to know that how were the Placements; & the average Domestic & International Salary offered to PGPM graduates? Did any Consultancy companies visited/attended the Placements?

Thanks,
Saurabh.

Not one student of first batch is got placed.
Still they are looking for jobs.so you are not able to get any replies from these people about placements.

Hi,

Could you please let us know about the last yr placements?

Thanks,

Pravin

Hi Everybody,

I am BMS graduate from Mumbai University and have 6 years of work exp in IT Industry channel sales and now want pursue for a MBA course and after going through posts on this website i confused and this year is the only chance for me to opt for MBA. So PLEASE PLEASE if there is anybody from Asia GSB on the thread then kindly throw some light on status of the college in terms of market demand and ROI factor and which is more worth it 1year EXE MBA from Asia GSB or 2 years MBA from IES Mumbai or Chetna's Mumbai i know my comparison is weird but situation is that my work ex is before completion of graduation because of which i can't even think of premier bschool 1 year MBA and even my acads are very poor and even my CAT & XAT scores are also equally bad due to which and i don't have better options than above and i know ppl might giggle after reading this but please don't giggle after reading this post and try to your best suggestions.

Can anyone update information on getting a PGDM from AGSB in Mumbai?
They claim to by approved by AICTE but isn't still reflected under the AICTE Govt site.
