Well After talking to SX and sujit on SB yesterday I realized, that the former is 115 kgs:shock: while the later is in early 90's:wow:. so I decided to open a thread which will be completely dedicated to nothing but the weight loss, methods , techniques and many other things which will also help u to reduce your weight as well as maintain it. Well As for me my weight was 92 some months before and I have reduced it to 84 😃 which I think is a good enuff achivement. So I will be sharing what I did in the process. Hope it helps many out here.

What wrong things I did before:-

  1. Well I didnt exercise not even once in a month
  2. I ate a light breakfast, heavy lunch and more heavy dinner
  3. I drank less water
  4. I used to have minimum 2-3 bottles of beer on weekends with potato chips
  5. I had huge liking of ice cream and sweets and ate it like anyhting :)
  6. I prefered taking lifts to staircases even if I have to go only 1 floor above(it is typical of a software er)
  7. I will always pefer junk food over normal food
  8. i was very emotional in taking food, for example, if it is raining I will order onion pakodas and eat in huge quanity
  9. If by mistake anyday I drink juice I will make sure that it has at least 2 spoons of sugar is there in it as that it tastes sweet
  10. while eating parathas, I make sure that butter is spilled over it properly and stuffing is evry fine and combined it wtih cold drinks

Results of all this My weight shot up from early 70's to early 90's in no time and i didnt new it. few months back I went to play a friendly cricket match that was organized by project team members,I could not bowl whole over and lost breath, then I realized that I am in trouble now and I need to pull up my socks, other wise it will be too late.

So things which I started doing
  1. I started going for a walk in morning initially due to which my leg started paining like anything, but I continued and after that started running. I make sure I have to run if not in morning then in evening. Even CAT prep can take a back seat but not this
  2. I reversed my order of eating things, very nutritive breakfast, 2 glasses of juice without sugar, 2 boiled eggs with only white part leaving the yellow part as it contains 5 gms of cholestrol. In lunch only 3 roti and dal and sabzi. In dinner only 3 roti with dal.
  3. I start drinking more water, actually if u drink more water, u r body will not be dehydarted otheriwise u r kidney will take water fom u r blood, so be kind to it and drink at least 2 litres of water per day
  4. I made a strict no alcohol policy no weekdays no weekends
  5. No junk food, no chips, no nothing which is harmful for body
  6. NO sugar, as less oil as possible
  7. more of roughage in food
  8. Fruit sald is a good option and prefer papaya , pineaaple and water melon over other futis
  9. Banana which is very coomon in south india is a strict no
  10. Before eating your meal have water or juice, due to which u r hunger remains in control and also after meal dont drink water immedaitley
  11. after having dinner take a small walk and also try to take dinner as ealry as possible, as our body internal system gets tired by the end of day, and we generally give it the maximum work that time, due to which it is not able to digest it properly and we gain weight
  12. If u have joined gym , dont join a AC gym as it cools your body as soon as it is wamred which is not good medically
  13. For people who are more then 90, they start with normal walk and then brisk walking
  14. When u wake up ealry in the morning, take some hot water in a glass and squeeze 2 lemons in it and drink it, and make sure u do this empty stomach. Please dont mix any other thing in it
  15. Avoid sugar as much as possible, drink less coffee prefer tea, no ice creams and chocolates
  16. Avoid late night snacks and avoid being emotional while taking food

what I have felt first, a person should have a desire to reduce weight, many people whom I have met and are over weight, they tend to show that they are comfortable with there body and dont want to reduce weight, but in the hindsight they know that it is a problem, but they are not ready to take up the challenge which is a wrong thing, because reducing weight is not only attached to looking good but also feeling, light and healthy. I can tell u from example , in my building one my college seniors who was of age 30 suffered form heart attack due to excessive smoking and drinking. People show off that they can drink 6 bottles of beer and all that. The point is greatness is not in drinking but in not drinking when u r a avid drinker or smoker. People who smoke It has huge ill effects many of which I cannot even state here, so reduce u r intake.

Well also check Ur BMI for u r respective height and weight, it gives a proper picture to what u have to do, if u r 30 + then u better do something otherwise god bless you.

You can find numerous articles on net, but I felt a hands on experience from someone will be quite helpful, So guys keep running and njoi the weight loss:)

hi birbal :D

nice to see this thread, not because i am fat or overweight, but the fact that we can see some real life fighters here :D

as far as i am concerned, i weigh a little above normal 74 Kgs, with height 175 cms, which makes it just on the borderline of the obese category.

I want to share a personal experience here.

I went to Mumbai in 2009 and met John_galt in JBIMS's hostel who has graduated from JBIMS this year.
as an intro for him, he is a body builder and a state level body builder.

he told me an effective exercise which he practised there and may be also practices today.

you just need the two steps of a staircase and nothing else.

just step up on the first step and then get down without facing backwards on the previous step. then again step up and again step down.

for variation (after say 10-15 mins or anytime) you may change the front foot to the other one. suppose you have started with left foot, then after 10 mins you can start with the right foot.

start this slowly, do this until you get tired.

it seems monotonic, but it is a big calorie cruncher.

after a week or so of regular exercise, you will be habitual of the steps to such extent that you can read the newspaper while stepping up and down on those 2 steps on the staircase.

I have tried it myself, it helps a lot in burning the calories.
also, ample availability of staircases makes this exercise very hassle free and useful.

as a matter of fact, john_galt used to read the whole economic times while stepping up and down on the two stairs. 😁

2 yrs ago my weight used to be arnd 90+.....but now its only 71+............
many persons suggested me alot things to do...like skipping, gym and all that......and the funny thing is i tried all those irritating stuffs.......then i realised the most effective thing is jogging.........i usually didnt get much energy in the morning.so i used to jog in the evening.............the result is 4.5 proposals in this 2 yrs(about which i had dreamed throughout my life)and i rejected them all bcoz i know that if i work hard my future will be like a ramp function and will get more girls.the key is u hav 2 believe in urself......as from the class 10 i believed that within next 6-8 yrs i m gonna change this 8 pack flabs into 6 pack abs.......and i m onto it wid 4 pack abs.......so just believe in urself

Though i am not an overweight person still as soon as i gain even a few kilos i get nightmares... now the problem is i cant stop myself from eating things like chocolates,ice-cream,laddus since i always think ''now is the age to eat,if not now when will i eat''....
so few years back after my sister's wedding(where i got to eat loads of sweets) i gained quite a lot of weight n to my horror none of my jeans fit me!!!!!
That was enough to motivate me n since i dont like jogging so for a month i started walking everyday for half an hour n plus reduced my junk food n sugar intake....(mind u it has to b a brisk walk)....
n the result was just as i wanted...

kyun khona chahti ho weight...fat chubby girls look so cute n lovable u know...don loose weight...:)

yea right in which world!!!!!
health is what matters....:-)

Cool thread.

I recently reduced my weight from 84 to 81 and my waistline from 36 to almost 34 in about a month.

As per my height my ideal weight should be 76 so still have a long way to go.

5 Kgs to go

Whats required is the desire to lose weight at any cost and everyone can lose weight.

I can't refrain from posting in this thread. My height is 178 cms and I weigh 110 kgs. About three years ago, I used to weigh around 70 kgs and people used to compliment me on my nice personality. But now, all I get to hear is people nicknaming me football and golgappa. I am an out and out foodie and can't stay away from junk food. Although I know that I am abusing my body big time, but still I don't have the will to lose weight. I am well aware of the perils of eating junk food, but unfortunately it's the only food I find tasty Guys, please advise me something so that I can motivate myself to get in shape.

Hey buddy, here are few suggestions for you:

1) try eat as light food as possible, who says oilless or spiceless (or junkfood) food is not tasty, try having different items in ur diet.

2) go gymming or join any health club, get involved in any sport ( i wud recommend Swimming classes)

3) and plz take ur favourite junk food once in a week and dont completely avoid dem, and u will find it tastes much more than before ( i have tried dat )

try including oats or cornflakes in ur breakfast, dats what i do

hope dis helps
