Guys please help me out with the above explanations.....

My answers along with reasoning are given below; What are the OAs?

1) Ans (E):- E is the best option because "ten of the western states HAD.." is parallel with "only one in the East HAD".

2) Ans (A):- "Each" and "Every" are both singular and they need to have "its" at the end of the sentence and not "their". That's why (D) is not correct.

3) Ans (D):- because it is the most direct and concise option. ("persistent terrorist activity" is better than "terrorist activity that is persistent")

4) Ans (A):- Option (A) is grammatically incorrect so look through the other options and only rule out (A) if you find something better. (D) and (E) are too wordy. In (B) "quail eating" and "able to make" make it clumsy. Between (C) and (A); (C) is more passive and hence choose the active form (A).

5) Ans (A):- "never forgave" must be parallel with "never absolved". So rule out options (D) and (E). Option (C) is unidiomatic - one must never use "just like" in GMAT. Between options (A) and (B), "while" is generally used to describe two actions that are happening at the same time. We are not sure if that is the case here. So, stick to (A).

6) I'm doubtful about this! =[

7) Ans (C) :- "direct costs" is plural; hence "amounts" is incorrect: rule out options (A) and (B). In option (E), "amount" and "sum" are redundant. "amount" is uncountable and hence the quantity word here must be "less" and not "lesser. Therefore, go with option (C).

8] Ans (A):- "for damage to" must be parallel with "for injury to". Hence Option (A) is the best.

9) Ans (E) - the correct idiom is "potential to". So rule out options (A) and (D) as they are unidiomatic. The statement says that when the employees work overtime, that can potentially cause error in judgment. It is only the practice of the employees working overtime that can cause an error in judgment. So choose (E).

I think the Answers are (A), (D) and (A) respectively. What are the OAs?

The answers are right. It would be kind of if you could explain them..

Question (1):- Two scenarios are compared in this question - administering polio vaccine and dietary change.
(A) - No error.
(B) & (C) - seem to compare polio vaccine and dietary change. These are not comparable yardsticks in this statement. Administering polio vaccine must be compared with the change in diet.
(D) - "while" is always used to compare two things that occur at the same time. We are not told about this in the sentence. So, rule out this choice.
(E) - clumsy construction - not parallel

Question (2):- Watch out for subject-verb agreement in this question.
(A) - "bite" is singular, but the sentence says "the bite.. are fatal". Similarly the use of "they", and "its" towards the sentence all send up red flags.
(B) - usage of "their" leads to some ambiguity
(C) - "their" at the end of the sentence - cannot be plural - incorrect.
(D) - best choice
(E) - same error as in (A).

Question (3):- "revealed" must be followed by "that" in this sentence. Therefore, options (C), (D) and (E) can be eliminated. (B) alters the meaning of the sentence by introducing a sentence fragment with "and also". Therefore, Choice (A) is the best.
