Can someone please explain me the difference between:
1. might be/ could be
2. instead of/ rather than

Heres few...i know the answers but have no clue why...please post explainaton as well!!!

2. I think instead of and rather than are both idiomatic and can be used interchangeably. rather than , X rather than Y is mostly used in case of preferences.

A.anyone cannot go with their(plural)
B.same as A
C. workers with their hands---awkward
D. wordy and awkward(work is with their hands)

there is a diff in the usage of "rather" and "instead".

Rather than is used with verbs but Instead of is used with nouns.

Plus, gerund (verb+ing) is a noun so it will be followed by "instead of".

Since "anyone" is singular, so A, B are out.
C & D are anyway wrong.

E is best and right. People is plural.

distinct of .. is an idiom i guess... (correct me if am wrong).. can we use that over here ?.. am sure that being is almost always wrong because of awkward struture.. but what other option could be the best... here

i think answer shud b A . As you hv correctly pointed out B,C n E are out .
That leaves A n D . I think in D , as dwellings n like businesses r not parallel ..
