I think B is the right answer, in choice E has begun is not the correct phrase I suppose. It should have been had begun
Friends, Following is the OA of a SC Question :-
Unlike those in the United States, Japanese unions appear reluctant to organize lower-paid workers.
However, I am unable to accept this. My concern - "those" in the sentence comes before what it describes (unions). Is such type of sentence construction correct in GMAT Rulebook?
I am confused. Pls guide.

I think it's correct usage. 😁
Very popular from 1900 until the 1920's, the renewed interest in ceiling fans began when the energy crisis in 1974 forced homeowners to look for alternative methods of heating and cooling.
(A) Very popular from 1900 until the 1920's, the renewed interest in ceiling fans began
(B) The renewed interest in ceiling fans, which were very popular from 1900 until the 1920's, began
(C) After they were very popular from 1900 until the 1920's, the renewed interest in ceiling fans was beginning

(E) From 1900 until the 1920's ceiling fans were very popular, and now the renewed interest in them has begun
Can someone please help me to know why is E wrong

I think the tense seems a problem in (E). 'Were' and 'has begun'. Also it incorporates 'and now' part.

I would go for (B).

('Which' correctly refers to 'ceiling fans', Initially thought otherwise)

the correct answer should be B. E can be eliminated because of tense error and awkwardness.

I read following question on one of the sites:
Can any one please explain what is wrong with Option 2 here?

It has become more popular for parents to send their children to private schools rather than sending them to public ones.

1. private schools rather than sending them to public ones
2. private schools rather than public schools
3. study at private schools rather than sending them to public ones
4. be schooled privately rather than in public schools
5. private rather than public schools

There is no parallelism in the 2nd option.

Very popular from 1900 until the 1920s, the renewed interest in ceiling fans began when the energy crisis in 1974 forced homeowners to look for alternative methods of heating and cooling.
(A) Very popular from 1900 until the 1920s, the renewed interest in ceiling fans began
(B) The renewed interest in ceiling fans, which were very popular from 1900 until the 1920s, began
(C) After they were very popular from 1900 until the 1920s, the renewed interest in ceiling fans was beginning
(D) Ceiling fans were very popular from 1900 until the 1920s, with renewed interest beginning in them
(E) From 1900 until the 1920s ceiling fans were very popular, and now the renewed interest in them has begun

According to me the underlined part is awkward.. and it needs to be corrected... so B sounds a much better option.
Also the sentence starts with VERY POPULAR.... which is corrected in B

is the answer 5 as 5 is better and crisp than 2

Hi,
I think the answer is option 2.

I think the answe should be 2nd to maintain parallel structure

Hi All,
For all those who want Aristotle SC Grail and other material from AristotlePrep(around 4-5 ebooks), wouldnt it be a good idea to form a group and then each group member buys one of the ebook and then we can share the total expenditure among all the group members and share the material. After all all the material on Aristotle is in soft copy form and we can easily share it in emails
I dont think this will be a violation of copy rights because we are buying the book from site and then sharing among friends. absolutely not making money by reselling it in market.
What do u think guys?
All those who are interested please reply so we can go ahead with this idea.

t has become more popular for parents to send
their children to private schools rather than
sending them to public ones.

My take: 5 since al other options not parallel..

Hi Guys,

Can someone provide the solution or ans keys for 1000SC?
