As pointed by other as well the correct idiom is 'as many x as y'
we can directly eliminate option A,B and C.
more than three times as many charge ....as those charging is not a parallel comparison. Eliminate E.
Correct answer should be D.

There have been cases where pronoun ambiguity is tolerated in GMAT!
These are cases when the pronoun used although might have more than 1 antecedent, but is such that the whole sentence makes sense only with exactly 1 antecedent.
Over here in Option E), no we cannot say that 'them' cannot refer to 'tourists' by any general rule of grammar, but if it does, then the sentence makes no sense. (It would mean that tourists exhaled moisture and the moisture raised the humidity within them!! --- makes no sense). So we say that the pronoun 'them' refers to the 'chambers' on the basis of context.
Options C and D are wrong for other reasons as u mentioned parallelism, etc.
And it would always be so that the questions which use ambiguous pronouns would have the wrong options wrong for myriad of other reasons.

If iam not wrong, changes in GMAT format would be in effect from June 2012. The best option would be to take your GMAt before that.

Akhi, this is a process which started long back, probably much before the OG12 came out, so definitely, there is no major change in the GMAT.
The focus from Idioms needs to be reduced ->this seems to be the main motive.
Read these blogs on MGMAT, they will provide additional details and enough reasons to not press the panic button.

Did you really go through the posts by Stacey which I mentioned in the last post?
Just putting a flashy name "RIP-Idioms" does not make the post on Aristotle the definitive guide to the SC section.
Read what the real experts are telling, there is NO need to panic. There are subtle changes which have been happening over a period of time and going about it in a structured and intelligent manner will help you reach your target score.
Rather than worrying about the changes, its best that you keep preparing for the best possible results, if there would be major changes a lot of test-takers would have got affected by now, but that is not the case. So stop thinking about it too much and focus on your preps.
Edit: I have posted a reply on their post as well, hopefully they will take some action and modify the existing post.
