A good SC. I will post the OA after few discussions.
Only seven people this century have been killed by the great white shark, the man-eater of the movies-less than those killed by bee stings.
A. movies-less than those B. movies-fewer than have been C. movies, which is less than those D. movies, a number lower than the people E. movies, fewer than the ones

My take is E....B seems to be close but "have been" doesnt seem to ok..

So guys, As expected many people got this one wrong. Don't worry, I also got this one wrong in the first attempt. I chose option E. My intention behind posting this question was not to show my intelligence but to show how GMAT can trick all of us with questions like this.
The correct answer is in Bold.
Reason:-- As we know, people are countable Noun and 'less' is used for uncountable things. We can safely eliminate option A and C.
Option D is incorrectly comparing numbers to People. Eliminate.
Option E has parallelism issues. "the ones" is ambiguous -- not clear whether it is referring to Sharks or Movies...
Option B on the other hand correctly uses 'Fewer ' for countable noun.. Also, it maintain parallelism..

Pretty easy π ..
I've highlighted the correct answer in Blue...
Reason: -- 1) incorrectly compares Religions to Teachings of Sikhism 2) Same as 1 4) Wordy, Awkward and too many grammatical errors 5) incorrect comparison - compares Religions to Sikhism option 3 is the clear winner :)
Also, the answer to your earlier question is E. Correct Subject Verb Agreement π
Nope! Its E . ofcourse, by glancing u come up with D and E. E is correcnt because it uses ITS rather than THEIR to refer cyprus
excaliber007 Says
D seems the apt one...
Yes, apart from Subject Verb agreement if you notice one more thing that other choices are too wordy That the united states would encourage turkey, the usage of 'That' & 'Would' is incorrect.
The intended meaning is that Prez has simply asked the US to convince/encourage turkey to Blah blah... Option E maintains both (Grammar as well as the intended meaning)

Will go with 4)
'Credited with' is the correct usage. 4) seems apt.

my challenge ! suppose the option d was like - that .......united states to ...................its ,,,,,,,,,,, which one would have preferred! d or e?

Hai sudhir.. in that case the option D would be similar to C but without WOULD as in option C.. acc to me, "that the united states encourage" doesn't sound better than "that the united states would encourage". So, again i would go for C or E. C - wordy... so i ll go with E.
BTW wat s d OA:-)
eg: we will have sentences like "i have asked you to do it" or "i have asked that you should or would do it".. not like " i have asked that you do it".. my take is this way.. open for other's valuable inputs..

OA is E! but don u think it would form a correct idiom ? :-P

The board follows policies that are unreasonably strict and so inflexible that they refuse to discuss permitting leaves of absences even when justifiable.
A)they refuse to discuss permitting leaves of absences even when B)it refuses to discuss permitting leaves of absences even when it is C)it refuses to discuss permitting leaves of absences to be taken even when they are D)permitting leaves of absences is not discussed even when E)discussion of permitting leaves of absences is refused even when they will be
Answer after few posts.
option (c) is better than (b) because use of "they " is clear in (c) as it refers to leave of absence compared to it in (b) which is ambiguous.
