I think its B, but not sure. I am choosing B after eliminating A and C on the grounds of having similar meanings with different connotations.
Another thought that cropped in my mind is whether B change the meaning?
How do I understand whether an option is changing the meaning. Should all the options necessarily be the same in meaning as the underlined one in the questions in SC, and we should look for correctness for grammar only with the options having the same meaning.
thats's correct.OA is 'A' In the construction "not...but", the words following "not" and "but" should be in parallel form. In this case, "not" and "but" are parallel because they are both followed by a phrase. Also, "gained" is the correct past tense construction for the concept.
For 1, I would go with 3, it uses the correct Tenses
For 2, I am not too sure, I dont like any of the answer choices. 2 is parallel but i dont think it conveys the correct meaning. 4 would have been correct if it read "thus of greater....." Can some experts shed some light on this one?
Hi sausi007, Please post the explanations for all options on question 1 that you used to eliminate the other four. I am not able to understand how does "tense" play a role here. Can you please elaborate?

Dost....I just looked at the first word of all the options wrt the words used in the question.Just see the words that I have highlighted, none of the other options seemed to fit with the existing words.I dont think this is the best way to go about it, but I just used it for this question.

Will go with A. "Native to" is the correct expression, coupled with "introduced into".......

B is a native of South America but was introduced into Florida during the 1930's in an attempt to control- 'is native of' instead of 'native to' and 'attempt to' instead of 'attempt at'
B is a native of South America but was introduced into Florida during the 1930's in an attempt to control- 'is native of' instead of 'native to' and 'attempt to' instead of 'attempt at'
well 'native to' can be used for animals so it is perfect out here. So i think it sud be A.
