In my first instance, I picked E.
But then, I red ur last line and tried it again. I think it can be C too. Preventing > prevented but "Its" is better placed in C.
Is the answer C ??

89.Although Ms. Bakara had previously emphasized that she could not speak for other Black people, she ventured to do so on this one occasion because she firmly believed that many minority people, likely most, would agree with her.
(A) do so on this one occasion because she firmly believed that many minority people, likely most, would agree
(B) speak on this one occasion since she firmly believed that many minority people, likely most, would have agreed
(C) so speak on this one occasion due to her firmly believing that many minority people, even most, would likely agree
(D) do so on this one occasion because she firmly believed that many minority people, if not most, would agree
(E) do so on this one occasion since she firmly believed many minority people, and even most, would likely agree
confused b/w A and E

I think the answer is D.
The sentence is intended to say- Ms. B already emphazied that she cannot say for all the Black peopel, but she still believes that if "not most" people but many minority people would agree with her.
But Option A and E both does not conclude this. both chocies change the meaning of the sentence.
What's the OA?

Well I would go with D...
I completely agree with Neha's explaination...
The answer boils down to 3 options A,D and E as only these options you do so correctly...
Now we eliminate A because it uses "likely most, would agree" which is pretty awkward
And E is not correct as it uses Since instead of because and and "even most, would likely agree" dosent sound good....
correct me if I am wrong...
What's the OA
Yes OA is D
actually i was confused b/w A&D; by mistake i posted A&E.;
my reasons for A :
suppose if I say : I havent done this work throughout my life, but this time i am doing this because i think many people, likely/ probably most, support me.
in general
is it correct if i say likely most ?? or is it awkward
Hi,
Correct answer should be D , and because of the precise reason which rohit_gem2611 mentioned.
I am sorry but ,the sentence you made also appers to be awkward too.

A. have to know a great deal more than now about the social and economic
B. have to know a great deal more than they do now about the social and economical
C. would have to know a great deal more than they do now about the social and economical
D. would have to know a great deal more than they do now about the social and economic
E. would have to know a great deal more than now about the social and economical
answer is E but Actually C looks good to me.
The correct answer can only be D.
Cause we are talking about social and economic determinants of fertility.
Economical means cheap. Economical does not mean "pertain to economy" as we intend to say here. that is why options B,C and E are straight eliminated. And A is not formed correctly. Hence Answer is D.
Hope that helps.

Neha
