4. A. The part of the sentence after the colon is a run-on sentence. It needs something to connect the two independent clauses.
B. gives a different meaning to the sentence.

C. is garbled; it mixes slopes with kind of music that can be chosen.

E. is missing an "and" between the last two choices. Moreover, "but" is not the correct conjunction to be used in this case.

5. E is wrong coz , " in contrast with " is unidiomatic.
C uses the correct idiom , " in contrast to " and also makes the right comparison ( i.e. one b/w Haydens symphonies and those of Mahler ) but it loses to D because the usage of " much freer use of " in D is much more idiomatic than the usage of " much more free use of " in C .

No they are both in the same form ..i.e. participial form of the verb. A participial form of the verb can also act as an adjective to modify a noun. And this is clearly the case in the sentence posted by you. .
