hey are i, k, m, p powers of 2,3,5,7 ?.. can't make out the way you typed it ..

if they are indeed powers... ans shud be D

approach: basic prime factoring

thats correct !!! they are powers...

Six mobsters have arrived at the theater for the premiere of the film "Goodbuddies." One of the mobsters, Frankie, is an informer, and he's afraid that another member of his crew, Joey, is on to him. Frankie, wanting to keep Joey in his sights, insists upon standing behind Joey in line at the concession stand, though not necessarily right behind him. How many ways can the six arrange themselves in line such that Frankie's requirement is satisfied?

32. A set of numbers has the property that for any number t in the set, t + 2 is in the set. If 1 is in the set, which of the following must also be in the set?

I. 3 II. 1 III. 5

A. I only
B. II only
C. I and II only
D. II and III only
E. I, II, and III

35) line l is defined by the equation y 5x = 4 and line w is defined by the equation 10y + 2x + 20 = 0. If line k does not intersect line l, what is the degree measure of the angle formed by line k and line w? (assume that all lines lie in one coordinate plane.)

a) 0
b) 30
c) 60
d) 90
e) it cannot be determined from the information given.

oa - d) 90

I'll go with C

the first digit is 3 so in the sum of cubes of the digit we have 27
8 and 9 cannot be the digits as their cubes are more than 399 ..for 7 we
can have 370 and 371 satisfying the given condn

for 6 we have only one option i.e 5 to reach 300 but there is no such number

the cubes of 4,3,2,1,0 are two small to combine with to reach the 300 mark

Car B travels 20 min after Car A, travels clockwise at 40 miles/hr. Approx how long does it take for the cars to meet after car A starts? Use 3.14 for Pie.

A. 63 min
B. 75 min
C. 83 min
D. 126 min
E. 188 min

This one is interesting :)

Area : 1256 sq mi
Hence 1256 = 3.14*r^2
r = 20mi

Perimeter - 125.6

x/60 = 125-x/40 (the time taken by both is same)
40x = 7500 - 60x
thus time taken 75 min

Ans B - 75
Area : 1256 sq mi
Hence 1256 = 3.14*r^2
r = 20mi

Perimeter - 125.6

x/60 = 125-x/40 (the time taken by both is same)
40x = 7500 - 60x
thus time taken 75 min

Ans B - 75

Thats Wrong :)

Try again... u are almost there... 😁

will go with C

r = 20
C = 125.6

distance covered by A in 20 mins = 20 miles.
remaining distance = 105.6
rel vel = 60+40 = 100 mph
time taken = 105.6/100 = 1.056hr ~ 63 min

total time for A 63+20 = 83 mins

@PJ ....good show in GMATPrep man... keep it up ..atb :biggrin:

Ans 300
In a single digit num, 7 can appear = 1 ways
In a double digit num, 7 can appear = 10(when 7 is the 10s digit) + 9(when 7 is 1s digit, leaving out 0 at 10s place) = 19 ways
Similarly in three digit num = 10*10 + 10*9 + 10*9 = 280.

Total num of ways = 1 + 19 + 280 = 300

Guys... Please post answers with permutations/combinations approach.

How many times will the number 7 be written when listing the integers from 1 to 1000?

1) 110
2) 111
3) 271
4) 300
5) 304
Area : 1256 sq mi
Hence 1256 = 3.14*r^2
r = 20mi

A- 20 min for 1st 20 miles

x/60 = 105-x/40 (the time taken by both is same)
40x = 6300 - 60x
x=63

Time taken ->63+20 = 83
Ans : C)83

ohhh nooo.. I missed the fact that carB starts 20 min after A!!
:banghead:

it'll be C. 83

If x is a positive integer and y is a non-negative integer such that (2066)^y is a divisor of 3176793, what is the value of y^x - x^y ?

A) -81
B) -1
C) 0
D) 81
E) 1

y =0 and x is a positive integer.So the value of the expr becomes -1.
