i have already given GMAT .. scored an avg 680/800 .
booked a date on oct 25th to write it again .
I did not study from Kaplan , Manhattan Sc or SC 1000 etc . I just studied from OG last time . This time i am planning to study from more resources .
My confusion :
There are 2 books for Kaplan : kaplan 800 ( without CD ) . The other is Kaplan Premier program 2008 edition ( with CD )
Which book should i refer from out of these 2 ??
Also For SC :
Manhattan Sc would be better or SC 1000 .
any pointers would be greatly appreciated !!

can anybody tell me whether the OG 10 and OG 11 available at esnips is sufficient or not.
I have downloaded some OG 11 from there but i m not sure it is the same material that everbody refers or some other book ( becoz it is not marked anywhere on the page but it is just the title Og11Verbal review)

First on Kaplan. K-800 and premier edition are 2 very different books.
While premier edition is more of a fundamentals to tough questions for somebody interested in higher scores, K-800 is a book for, well those who want to score 800. So K-800 has only the toughest questions possible on the GMAT and how to approach them.
Hope the diff is clear.
For SC - Manhattan is usually identified as a very good book for fundamentals. 1000 SC is more of a rhythm making for pratice compilation.
so again, they are both complementary sources.

see, kaplan 800 and kaplan premier edition both are diff...kaplan premier edition is one step higher than OG 11...so those are the questions in the sub 700 range...but if u want real crackers then kaplan 800 is the book..those questions are the ones tht u r likely to encounter when u consistently giv correct answers and are likely to score 760-800...so first solve kaplan premier edition and then go for kaplan 800, in my opinion..
as regards SC, manhattan SC is the best book for GMAT when it comes to clearing your concepts about SC..it takes you through a step-by-step process and introduces you to various kinds of errors in SC...a very thorough book, i shud say..while SC 1000 is merely a collection of 1000 SC questions with answers..i havent seen SC 1000 yet, but i believe it does not have explanatory answers, going by other puys' posts..so study hard..all the best..ciao

Am in Need of help. I have my GMAT date booked and the d day is 28th sept. Tat just leaves me with good 25 days to prepare. I have lotsa material with moi . What I need is some help to decide which book to attack ..which to avoid etc. Also a rough estimate of about how many hours tat I need to put in.I may sound a lil casual with jus 25 days in hand , but I am hell bent on crackin it .
Target Score : 750 .

ok puys, i hv got a small problem in my hand....i had enrolled for the MaxPrep GMAT course at IMS and they hd given me a set of 5 books...now, one month later, they have sent me a BRAND NEW COPY OF OFFICIAL GUIDE 11TH EDITION. and i had bought another copy for myself about a month ago since they did nt mention anythin about supplyin the OG11...so i hv got 2 copies of OG 11...and by the way, i live in MUMBAI..

My background is :
BE (Mechanical) with first class throughout.
9 yrs exp in IT(2 years in Singapore), moderate extra curriculars
Please suggest schools where I should apply. I am also in dilemma whether to go for a 2 year program or a 1 year program.
I am looking at "management consulting" specialization. Please suggest some good schools in that field.
Please give your insights.

start with OG 11...since u hv just 25 days of prep, i think u shud finish OG 11 in 1 week..giv a full length mock test...see ur score and identify wher u went wrong...i mean concepts or silly mistakes...correct those mistakes..then move on to Kaplan Premier edition which i think u shud be able to comfortably finish within 4-5 days.... giv another test..now see ur score and mark the areas where again u went wrong..correct them.. then, since u r aiming for a pretty high score, i suggest u move on to Kaplan 800...this book has some of the "toughest" questions on GMAT...well, they are questions tht r nt tough but just need an eagle's eye to spot the correct one...u might end up with a few more mistakes than u used to get while solving OG 11/ kaplan premier...so the book is "demoralising" for a few ppl as they put it...dont do it if u think ur morale will be affected by it...however, if u do it, u shud be able to finish it within another 5-6 days...with that, i suppose u are left with a little less than a week for prep..i suggest u utilise this time to give as many tests as u can...but remember, its the quality of the test that matters and not the quantity..it doesnt matter if u cant give many tests but try to rectify ur mistakes in each and every test...the important thing is u dont repeat those mistakes on the D-day...all the best...ciao

i feel RD Sharma offers loads of examples and a much more detailed explanation of topics.. also if u wanna later shift to more than basics.. it has some cracker problems as well.. wat topic exactly u on about..?
