E.. it weakens the argument than the rest... A strengthens.. B doesnt weaken the argument.. C. Mechanics is out of scope D also out ofscope..
@[239871:MANDARACHALAM]..I feel that B weakens the arguement more than E because the focus of the passage is on "fuel efficiency","lower fuel costs","reduced fuel timing". So if the fuel costs decrease over the next several years it will be a loss for the company

NorthernAir depends for its success on economy and quick turnaround and consequently is planning to replace its largeplanes with Skybuses, whose novel aerodynamic design is extremely fuel efficient. The Skybus' fuel efficiencyresults in both lower fuel costs and reduced time spent refueling.Which of the following, if true, could present the most serious disadvantage for Northern Air in replacing theirlarge planes with Skybuses?(A) The Skybus would enable Northern Air to schedule direct flights to destinations that currently require stopsfor refueling.(B) Aviation fuel is projected to decline in price over the next several years.(C) The fuel efficiency of the Skybus would enable Northern Air to eliminate refueling at some of its destinations, but several mechanics would lose their jobs.(D) None of Northern Air's competitors that use Belleville Airport are considering buying Skybuses.(E) The aerodynamic design of the Skybus causes turbulence behind it when taking off that forces other planeson the runway to delay their takeoffs. Thanks
We are asked to weaken it -

Hi All,
Here is one question of Stats
What will be answer for below question? Per me it should be "A"
What is the answer for below question?
What is the answer for below query?
On a recent expedition to a remote region of northern Canada, scientists uncovered skeletal remains from about 100,000 years ago. Surprisingly, all the skeletal remains, which included many species from differing biological families and spanned about two thousand years, showed evidence of experiencing temperatures in excess of 1000 degrees Fahrenheit (or 538 degrees Celsius).
Which of the following, if true, best explains the apparent paradox between the cold environment and the evidence of the bones experiencing hot temperatures?
A) Other scientific research released two years before the expedition showed that the remote region of northern Canada underwent considerable warming in the past 100,000 years.
B) Chemical changes that naturally occur during the process of decay in only one north Canadian species produce the same evidence of the species' skeletons being exposed to hot temperatures as the expedition scientists found.
C) A little over 103,000 years ago, a large fire is known to have occurred in northern Canada.
D) Strong evidence exists that as early as 70,000 years ago, Homo sapiens around the world relied heavily on fire to cook animals.
E) In the same expedition and in roughly the same layer of excavation, scientists found rudimentary wood cutting and hunting tools used by early humans
What is the answer for below mentioned query?

Ans must be D. Canada is very cold but stil skeletal remains show evidence of high temperature. This will happen when humans cook the animals in fire.
Answer can not be be d as D option talks about events happening 70000 years ago while problem statement is for 100000 years ago. Per my answer should be E. What say ?
I think D only resolves the paradox between cold environment and exposure of bone to high temperature. as early as 70K includes time period of 10K years ago as well... E does not perfom such function.. plz correct if i am wrong..

It does but there is a time difference of 30k years which may be a deciding factor. On the other hand option E seems to be the best available option

E is the answer as we need to take into consideration following statement also:
"Northern Air has dozens of flights daily into and out of Belleville Airport, which is highly congested"
Per statement E , it will make already congested runway more congested thus defeating the purpose of buying skybus
@crackgmat2012 said:Hi All,I have a very hard time in comprehending the below argument. Can someone help me in understanding & simplifying the argument? There is a great deal of geographical variation in the frequency of many surgical procedures €”up to tenfold variation per hundred thousand between different areas in the numbers of hysterectomies, prostatectomies, and tonsillectomies. To support a conclusion that much of the variation is due to unnecessary surgical procedures, it would be most important to establish which of the following?(A) A local board of review at each hospital examines the records of every operation to determine whether thesurgical procedure was necessary.(B) The variation is unrelated to factors (other than the surgical procedures themselves) that influence theincidence of diseases for which surgery might be considered.(C) There are several categories of surgical procedure (other than hysterectomies, prostatectomies, and tonsillectomies)that are often performed unnecessarily.(D) For certain surgical procedures, it is difficult to determine after the operation whether the procedures werenecessary or whether alternative treatment would have succeeded.(E) With respect to how often they are performed unnecessarily, hysterectomies, prostatectomies, andtonsillectomies are representative of surgical procedures in general. Thanks
Answer is B for this question. Per argument which of the listed facts will strengthen the conclusion that geographical variation in the number of surgeries is due to unnecessary surgical procedures.
Option B states that "variation is due to unrelated factors that influence the incidence of diseases for which surgery might be considered" or in other words unnecessary.
