Hi,

) and hence this post. I am not sure about getting into it, so I will definitely give a lot of importance to CAT but what extra efforts should I put in for GMAT verbal?

After doing a lot of hard work for which the management team above my head took all the credit, I decided to get an MBA myself and get into a managerial position where I take the credit for my well accomplished job. I am planning to study only in India but from a top b-school. My first preference is ISB (because I was impressed by their info session which I attended a few months ago) and it requires GMAT. Obviously, I cannot rely on that completely and so I have to apply to other top b-schools as well but they ask for CAT scores. So, I request all the prep gurus in PG to help me start my prep aimed at both CAT and GMAT. I am really not understanding how and where to start considering my requirement. Will attending weekend CAT classes at TIME help me for GMAT as well? After going through the PG forums for a while, I understood that GMAT's verbal is tough and CAT's quant. So, will it be helpful for GMAT's quant at least if I attend CAT classes? No idea about how to prepare for GMAT verbal - please help! I have around 10 months for GMAT and CAT preparation, I will take tests in 2013 and apply in 2014. Any help is greatly appreciated!! Thanks

hi..generally we tend to neglect the preparation for AWA (Analytical writing assignment) essay for GMAT. My advice will be to start reading lots of informative stuff (economist.com is a good place to start) and also start writing random AWA essays to get into the habit.
One useful online tool which can help you polish your skills at AWA essays is gmatawa.com . Which is a a free resource, aiming to help GMAT takers understand, evaluate and improve on their attempts at writing essays, targeting excellence in the AWA (Analysis of an argument) section of the GMAT.The fact, that the AWA section is aimed at testing the core skills of argument analysis, coherent expression, para-formation and structure suitable for business communication, forms the functional foundation of this software.
No login, no registration, absolutely free to try. To start you can use the trial attempt code "a12345" (which is like an access code for using the tool)
1) convenience of use
2) how do you rate the evaluation of the essay as done by awaRatr
3) anything else you belive could improve the usability of the portal
