Relevant topics for freshers in Electrical Engg :
1. Be clear with all the basic laws (Kirchhoff's, Norton's, Ohm's ...... )
2. Transformers (clarity of concept is more than enough)
3. Working of an Induction Motor (one of the favorites of interviewers)
4. The concept of brushes in DC
5. HVDC, different switches/ tripping circuits
5. Any current relevant topics : UMPP, Plans to be implemented in the next 5-years plan, current nuclear power scenario, etc
6. Basics of Analog/Digital electronics, programming, transistors might be asked.
This list is not exhaustive. The interviewer wont check for(unless its a bad day for the candidate) any hardcore knowledge. It will only be a test of basic concepts. Other than these proper answers to the general questions ( basic economic terms, current topics, CV based, . .) will make one sail thru.

Although I am not very clear as to what specialization I want to choose in second year. However if asked specifically in the PI I would say I am inclined towards Marketing. But I do not have any experience or background in marketing.
Could you please tell what all I should read before going to the PI. (Any web link you would suggest?) I have read Avinash's post regarding marketing questions. Any add-ons to that?

1. You might have got a call because of govt recognised achievement.
2. Now they might def ask you about your low scores. So be prepared for it.
3. And don't be worried about convert. You stand as much chance as others. GD/PI matters the most. All the best.

1. Operations as Majors started for the first time for our senior batch. And the placement report for their batch is yet to come.
2. For the previous batches when Ops was a minors option only, then some ERP Profiles by IT Companies and Ops profile by some financial companies is what i know.
3. Wait for this year's final placement report and we all will get to know everything in detail.

Priya, nothing much in detail would be asked. Just get the basics right and you are good to go. Also focus on other area like your hobbies, interests, academic subjects, projects, etc. All the best.

Let me tell you about the campus in brief. You all will be welcomed to the new Campus at Sanquelim (pronounced Sankhli) which is situated on a Hill with state of art architecture. Amphitheatre, sports complex for TT, Tennis, Cricket, football, asket ball court are some of the facilities.
We have a ATM Machine in Campus.
Hostels are almost with the best standards in the country. It has common rooms, washing machines (coin operated), facility of hot water (24 hours), etc.
1. College has sent all the emails but may be few bounced back. It might have happened because of the wrong id filled by the applicant.
2. Sometimes there is problem when you send any mail from Outlook mail to gmail or yahoo. So check your spam folder as well.
3. If You have not got the hard copy then printout of soft copy(email) will do.
4. If you haven't got soft copy or Hard copy ,the printout from GIM login page will do.
5. Hope this ends all your worries about the documents and all. Now let the preps go in full pace

Some points frm my side 2 start wid...
No 1 is perfect...b it a celebrity or a non-celebrity (common man)....
But d hue nd cry for some trivial issues (like d 1 dat is currently in news)....is over hyped particularly in case of celebrities or VIP's....
V cannot clap wid only 1 hand.......so on d same principle....as every coin has 2 sides....both need 2 b given importance equally rather dan considering only 1 side of d story nd tryin 2 hog d limelight on behalf of d other party involved...
Media particularly in dis case...acts quite outlandishly passing on its own judgement rather dan givin its conclusion based on solid proofs....
Also d timing of some of dese incidents does raise some doubts over its actual credibility....i.e. if its only a publiity gimmick or likewise...
Floor is open 4 discussion for interested puys....

i believe that it's more of a publicity gimmick.
take the example of srk and priyanka chopra. Rumours that has rocked bollywood in recent times, Shahrukh and Priyanka are alleged to be in love and anyone who is close to SRK knows about this. But is there really any smoke behind this fire or is it just a publicity gimmick for Don 2? I think it's publicity stunt.

i agree with aksh007 .... some common things are made uncommon by media persons just for trp sake .... and celebrities or VIPs are easy and good target for them... and they link that issue with some other like nxt movie or policy etc. to make some controversy to make their news channel live for 24 hrs...

manishsngh SaysIt is okay if you get only the print out of e mail. But you can send the mail to admissions office to get your gim id.. do give all your details..
Your primary mail id will have the GIM registration mail, that gives the login id and passwrd.

I had mailed the admissions team the time and slot for interview at goa. I got a reply "ok". That was it... So should i treat it as a confirmation and go ahead with booking the tickets.... will there be a formal call letter sent across to me or will the GIM interview details get updated in the login??

In GIM every individual on the campus is given a RFID card. The details of the individual(that rests in the server) can be tracked by the unique code embedded. On the campus RFID is used for more than just attendance marking. At every place one can find installed a RFID scanner. It is used for:
1. As an ID card
2. Attendance marking
3. Cashless transactions at canteen, juice centre, stationary(the payment needs to be done in accounts department)
4. Library transactions(yes, this gives one the liberty to issue books 24X7)
5. Keeping note of individuals leaving and entering campus
6. Tracking location of an individual
