Hi all,
I am glad to know that there are some aspirants from medical background who are preparing for GD/PI.:D
There are two veterinary doctors in our batch and i am one of them. There is one dentist too.
I had the same apprehensions last year as you guys have, regarding the PI, what to prepare, how much is the chance for a doctor, etc etc...I had an opportunity to talk to one of the seniors in GIM who is an ayurvedic doctor which helped me a lot in preparation.
In my PI, the panel consisted of Prof Ajit Parulekar who has tremendous experience in pharma industry. I was welcomed with the much expected questions like, why does a doctor need MBA? There are lesser doctors than MBAs so why should I select you? Wont it create a problem in the society? etc etc
I had prepared for those question well in advance, because those where the question which i asked myself before deciding to go for MBA.
I was really surprised when the prof asked me veterinary related questions just to check whether I am an expert in my subject because I worked as a Subject Matter Expert in Animal Insurance sector for 3 yrs.
Believe me, there are lots of profs in our college, with huge experience in pharma and health care sector, so they also are well prepared to interview aspirants with medical background.
There is absolutely no need to worry about the chances of doctors in GIM. Its same as that of any other candidate.
For further clarifications or queries don't hesitate to shoot ur questions. I will be glad to help you all.

Dear Avinash
Forgot to ask one thing, is there any essay or write-up that we have to do after our GD

Dear Avinash

sriakshat
YES..
You need to write an essay on the GD Topic after the GD.
That is write up on the topic which will summarize all that you discussed during your GD.
Well , I did my BBA from GGSIPU Delhi and worked with Hewitt Associates for about 12 months before quitting my job , sitting at home for 6 months and preparing for the entrances.
Now for the GD-PI Process , well frankly you do not need to do anything different if you are a BBA , just the same questions will be asked from you in the PI that are asked from others. But still if you want specific answers then take care of the following points.
1) As far as academics go , only be aware of the basics. Even if you've scrapped through your graduation you'll be qualified enough to answer the questions. For example as my Interview was taken by a faculty of economics , he asked me if i have studied Micro Economics , I replied in affirmative , the only two questions that followed were " What is the law of Demand " . Draw a Demand - Supply Curve. That's it. Plain Basics.
2) Another important question you need to prepare for is Why MBA after a BBA ?
a- If you are a fresher you will be asked why do you need an MBA immediately after a BBA , you have gained all the basic knowledge that's required to perform a job
b- If you have some work-ex , the same question will be posed in a different way , you already have an established career with the help of BBA , why go for another professional degree.
The answer to both the above questions depends on your own experiences.
Besides this , as stated by my other batch-mates , the rest of the GD-PI process remains the same , Be yourself and you'll do just Fine
For any more doubts , feel free to PM me !
Is GD and Essay write-up an elimination round or we will get full chance for GD, write-up and PI without any elimination
There is no elimination , you will be required to sit through the GD , Write-Up and PI irrespective of your performance at any stage.

Apart from what Prithvi said,
Repeating what I said earlier about Why GIM,
My Views :
1. Honesty : Not every college tell you all aspects of their admission process.
2. GIM has gone bigger with better campus, huge infrastructure.
3. More courses : Operations started as Majors
4. CSR as a compulsory program
5. Lot many things for fans of Music : GIM CHOIR
6. Good Placements despite the bad market scenario

I would like to share my bit of experience in this context.
During my interview when I was asked this question, I had stressed upon the various club activities going on in GIM. In GIM, we have 15 clubs and all of them are equally important.
I had stressed upon the fact that how such clubs are extremely helpful in providing students pragmatic learnings. This had helped me a lot.
ansgupta Saysthanks...what is CSR,am not able to find on GIM website
CSR is Corporate Social Responsibility.
We will get back on this with more details later on...
Right now, focus on GD/PI Preps.. !!
