hey guys, i talked to my seniors(working in gail and iocl). I told them about the situations we r facing and how people r mad about leaving iocl and joining ongc. I am concluding the conversation. They said best companies in term of sallary, growth, allowances, learning , switching job and ofcource aram ki jindigi. 1)Einginering india limited (EIL)-real engg, office work,designig work when projects come, much faster growth than others as most people switch job to get heigher package ie-20-25 after 4-5 year and ofcource good location.unfortunately they dont hire through gate. they have their own criteria of selection. ie min CGPA 7, tier 1 eng college etc. 2) down stream companies(GAIL,IOCL etc) - with present scenerio in india these companies are most profiting companies among all petrochemical industries bcoz of removal of subsidies ,dynamic pricing of fuel oil, autonomous decision making from where to buy the crude oil. Hence more profit to companies more allowances to employes ie- bpcl pay highest inhand sallary among all. last year it gave 15k to all officer employe boz no accident had happend in last 7-8 year, though location is another issue. In terms of job profile GAIL is the best company among all, job location is best among all. So if one want to be real engg go for it. Though it mostly hiers on experinced basic. people who have been recuited by gail r real lucky guys. Now coming to IOCl, it has balanced everything. job profile- officer rank , flexiblity in job, job location(very few unluck guys get unwanted location), inhand sallary 2nd highest after BPCL , and ofcource sabse jyada aaram ki jindigi. Even i heard about 2 guys cleared IAS in 3rd attempt while being in job.(all thing is banced i will rather say) 3) Upstream companies( ONGC,OIL etc)- In presnt scenerio crude oil price has fall due to ISIS ,THERAN sanction uplifted etc. Overall ongc is in graet loss. that is the reason they r not recruitng large no of people ie last year >700 , this year >400 even they had not recruited in 2014 and 2013 though they have found shell gas reserve in narmada basin. Inhand sallary is ofcource 3k-4k heigher than iocl. But in terms of allowances they will give u electric cooker of 1000 during diwali.(saying bonus worth 2500) some time. lot of corruption in administration, they even dont have their own drilling tech being leader in oil exploration in india. they r being lended by relince. I wont say every branch will have same type of sallary and growth. ie I heard about a guy with 50-55 lac package in offshore drilling after job experince of >25 years in different MNCs. It is much better for these engineers but not for chemical eng. They will mostly send chemical eng in pipeline etc I wont say ONGC is worst company but it is also true IOCL is better than ONGC for chemical engg. ONGC is best for drillers. Just think once why u will switch to ONGC after paying bond fee of 50k-1lac to get better sallary of 3k-4k(at max 5k) where u wont get that much better job profile and heavy work load( no of employes recuited r less than required)
Seeing the present scenario in ongc, it would be very helpful if the below rankers knew what the toppers are going to opt for in ongc. So, it's a request to everyone to comment their rank, gate score, category and stream for which they are applying in ongc.
