Hi everybody,

Hi,i had been worked for the Shanghai office in China for about seven months. As i know, this job is like doing the buying and selling game all the time and try to make money from each trade. It means that you should stare at the computer screen and look for every opportunity. For example, if you buy a contract at the price 98.30, and you hold it until the price 98.35, then you sell it, you can make one tick(about 10 dollar) from this trade.
And i think to be good at this job, you should have the sense of how the market will gona to move and how others will gona to act.
The interview part was not difficult to me, there were several questions about your experience and also some math questions that need you act quickly.
Good luck!

Alice

Got selected for Futures first. Can anyone please tell me how is work experience in derivatives looked at? Will this be of help if I want to apply for an MS in finance at a good university? Or for an MBA?

Would really appreciate any pros and cons for this firm.

First of all congrats dude..

I believe u shud join this firm only if u are capable of taking risk and if u wanna play safe , then stay away... I know 2-3 people who were kicked off from the company as well and now they are working for CL Patiala and Time. One of them had reached heights of bonus..

And dude how did u applied, i want to apply to this firm?

thanx man. I got selected thru campus placement (IIT Delhi). It's pretty high risk high reward that I know, but are there any options like hedge funds or i-banks after a couple of years, and is this a good exprience to have if I want to apply for Masters in finance. I am particularly in quant finance program at Stanford a couple of years down the line (If I have made enuf money in a couple of years to fund myself that is.):lookround:

@dantecratos.... No second thoughts... Go for it... such opportunities dont come often...!

One of my seniors had offer from FF and IIMC pgdm. He chose IIMC. But if you feel you have it in you, then in terms of earnings you would give any associate level international i-banker a run for money in coupla years. The problem is it is not a job that would give you a lot of interaction with people. You would sit in front of computer, crunch numbers, place bets and make money. And in terms of prospects, if you can stay 2-3 years, you would have made enough money to self finance your MBA/MS.
Like others pointed out, go for it. I'd stick my neck out and say, if you are made for it, there is no other profession that can be more thrilling, intellectually stimulating or financially rewarding than derivatives finance. By the way, last year the highest bonus made by an FF trader in India was, guess what... 22 crore rupees in a year. :wow:

Thanx Ankur. I forgot to tell you that I had an offer from FMS MBA FT. The only concern is I want to do higher studies in finance. From what I know, FMS is gr8 for marketing, not as good for finance.

You are on the right track.

Get relevant work x as a trader.
Try to get in top 3 IIMs or if you have sufficient work x you can try for ivy league b schools in the west and can get into I bank

Visit their website to gather info about careers. But I guess it is easier to get placed thru campus. I've heard a few people geting off campus offers thru a test they conduct every 5-6 months. You'd need to enquire about that though.
