Wishing all d luck to all IIM- I RAT takers!!
@caprion Unfortunately, one cannot join any of the public institutes (like the IIMs & the IITs) as a faculty member unless he/she holds a recognized degree or degree-equivalent!! Private institutes (like XLRI) may not, however, discriminate.
But I believe even XLRI/MDI FPM s arent AICTE approved
About ISB
1. Last year during the interviews, they had mentioned that they would find a solution to this before the first batch graduates. 2. ISB is AACSB approved and has a very good research environment comparable to global business schools. You can find a faculty job anywhere in the world as they mainly look for AACSB approval and research output.
3. I remember 2 years back someone had spoken to a profs in IIMB or IITK (don't remember). They had said that if the candidate is promising, there can always be ways in which she can be recruited. I don't really know what that means. But maybe there are provisions.
@sb29
1. Hopefully, yes. As opposed to their PGP programme, the FPM is bound to consume around 4-5 years of a student's life, and that too with inputs similar to other fellow programmes.
2. According to ISB's website, students would be trained & made to prepare for faculty positions abroad. Thus, I believe, a researcher should be known for the kind of output he/she produces...irrespective of 'brands' & 'approvals'.
3. VF positions are always open for competent individuals (one can offer multiple full-courses); however, I doubt if institutes in India would be allowed to rise above 'rules' & 'laws' otherwise.

Hi! not sure about mdi.... but XL fpm is aicte approved and they are working on the equivalent to phd recognition from AIU...last I heard the process has started and it can be expected to be complete by the next 2-3 yrs (worst case scenario). And there are ample amount of cases where people have become faculty at IIMs after completing XL fpm (source: word of mouth and LinkedIn)

AICTE ideally chooses to provide envelope approvals for an institute, that may be extended periodically. Even the FPM at MICA is supposed to be approved by the body.
@AAOne I think most of the IIM/IIT faculty advertisements say PhD or equivalent. They never say that the degree should be approved/recognized by anyone. Is that correct? Is it mentioned anywhere in any faculty recruitment ad that the PhD should be approved by any body?
@sb29 AICTE approval gives your program the equivalence in india..so when u see PhD or Equivalent..it is talking about the AICTE provided equivalence
@caprion AICTE doesn't give equivalence. AIU gives equivalence. No idea what AICTE approval means! It is a big mess. And I think FPM grads from programs which are neither AICTE approved nor equivalent to PhD as granted by AIU are still holding faculty positions in Government funded institutes in India.
For example, I think the FPM programs at I and L are not granted equivalence by AIU and not recognized by AICTE. You would argue that being an IIM they don't require AICTE approval. But then why is IIMB program approved by AICTE (and even that is not granted equivalence by AIU). But then IIMC's program is granted equivalence by AIU and not AICTE!!
So going by that logic, shouldn't an FPM grad from IIML and ISB treated the same? Both are unapproved and unrecognized programs :)
@AAOne your take on this?
@caprion Yeah it is a big mess. This is one reason why the IIM bill is required. I updated my post above by the way.
