Have decent extra curriculars, and am presently working in a Bank in the Credit and Policy Group.
Am interested in pursuing research in the field of global business strategy. Planning to go for IIM Lucknow.. How decent wud be my profile, nd ny idea as to how intense wud be the competition? Wat should be the CAT score I should be aiming to safely receive a call from IIM L?
@duboy In strategy IIM-Looks for handful years of work experience minimum 2years. Although they have not mentioned it but last time they rejected me although I had 16 months of work-ex in sales citing my lack of experience and instead asked me to do MBA.So u require a very good reason to defend that .But ur acads are excellent.
@Anu1981@kinji.at.pg1 The number of offers are variable. There is no fixed number of people to be taken. You would be taken if you fulfil the requirements of the committee.
Speaking on a broader level, the number of offers in a particular group may vary between 0 to 4-5 in general.
Can any seniors share interview experiences in the field of Behaviour Sciences at IIMC?
Are there some key pointers to keep in mind or some preparation we can do?
I have graduation in Computer Science and experience in marketing analytics (read no tangible proof of my relation to BS), but I have immense interest and I believe the aptitude too to excel in BS- teaching and research in BS is like my dream job.
Question is how to prove this to the interviewers? 😃 Any bright ideas? :)
@meera26Hey Meera, I too have received call for BS from IIM C. I too am an engineer with work experience in Marketing field (read, thus, no tangible relationship with BS). I guess it will be fun interviewing with the BS faculty 😃
Any idea how many candidates they have called this year? How are you going about your preparations?
Puys, most of the iims asked for a research proposal/interests in fpm applications. I don't remember any such entries in IIM Calcutta form (I applied online so I could be mistaken). Does it mean not having a definite research proposal in mind is not an issue with iimc?
Just saw the IIMC page. Last year I think there were only 32 calls for FPM. A four hundred percent increase! I really hope they are planning a similar increase in final selections.
Expect result to be out sometime next week (or even before).
@ those who had their interviews today/yesterday: Would be helpful for others if you could share your interview experiences.
From what I have gathered, typical questions asked today:
1) Why FPM?
2) Why engineering-then job-and now FPM? How do you connect these three?
3) Why not PhDs from IITs? Why IIMA? (this was particular to Information System Group candidates)
4) Leads for many questions were taken from what the candidates spoke during interviews. So prepare accordingly.
5) Basic questions related to graphs of different functions (mod x, sin x etc) could be asked. A bit of revision of normal distribution and t and p test could also be helpful. This is particularly for those who come with a research/MBA backgrounds.
6) Technical questions for those in the Information System Groups Area.
7) Some idea of potential research areas/ research interests could help. Some candidates were asked questions related to it.
