Fpm 2013

@buffer thank you so much for the detailed answer. Will be hepful to lot of students.
@cacs The least that doing PhD teaches you is writing detailed answers 😛
@buffer he he he....you are being life saver for so many students here. Would love to meet u at campus on 21st
@cacs I had noticed that post long back. You may have noticed that that is the only post by the user in PG. Most probably a disgruntled FPM student or someone who was denied an admit. Most probably the latter because the user doesn't know that IIMs have no relation with UGC or its grants!

@nitya.saxena - Same to u . Wens ur Interview? From where are you starting to reach Kozhikode?
I will be travelling from mumbai. Interview and test on 8th and 9th..
@buffer Can you please tell me what are the research areas in IT and systems . I would love to be working in research project which has some technical and practical ground instead of just theoretical .
What kind of internships do students get to do during thesis work ?
Also do people who complete their fellowship from IIMs get absorbed in IIMs easily or do IIMs prefer faculties from foreign universities or IISC and IITs .(top notch inidian universities)
@buffer You had given wonderful insight to you...I am mesmerized by your replies...How many seats total FPM is? As they had called 163 people..from all specialisation....so do they have a fix quota for Total FPM seats...and per specialization how many seats???? Thanks
@Muneza ...there is no quota as such -- if ur potential is appreciated, u wud b absorbed (come wat may!!) ...ATB :)
@rudrani ...in MIS, even ppl from the IITs, ISI & IISc are preferred
@rudrani ..the written test @ IIM-K isn't administered always, or for all areas.
@AAOne ohk...means their would be only PI...at IIM k...

I have some reservations about how much the concerned professor in pH.d can exploit you as a resource. I have heard from some people that sometimes ph.d guides ask you to do their personal work and treat you like a servant, because he/she basically holds the command of whether your ph.d gets complete or not - he can simply say I am not happy with his performance and that is the end of it. is it true?

@meera26 this is not totally wrong. In fact, it happens most often. "Jiski lathi ussi ki bhains"

Hi! MDI FPM ka kya status hey?? Anybody applied there?

@mmgg Do you know about the thesis completion rate, esp at IIMC? And also how often does it stretch beyond 4 years time?

@meera26 In any case the phd cannot go beyond 5 years. Normally 4-4.5 years. Moreover, the IIM C scholar @buffer enlighten us better on this query.

Anybody interested in the area of behavioral sciences over here?

@mmgg I mean does it ever happen that some people NEVER are able to complete the ph.d? 😛 Just wondering!
@meera26 ...am not aware of such things happening in the IIMs atleast!!

@mmgg ...fellows in the past have recd. their degrees as late as after 8-10 years; however, the trend has changed now!!
@meera26 ...i would sincerely urge u to stop thinking of all the negatives!! Cheers :)
