dude,
i think that learning English as a foreign language will help u the most. if u r interested in doing a job in ,say germany, then learn german. there is no point in learning german if u want to stay in India or go else where.
if u r interested in learning a language just go ahead and learn, but donot learn it for the sake of MBA. 😐
as u said these r the days of globalisation and hence to make a global community english is enough...

but in some premier bscholls they have one or two language in there course

well, if they have it then go ahead and learn dude
whatz wrong?

when u r going to learn it in a b school, then why worry abt it now?

just prepare well for CAT  that is all u cud do as of now. donot wastetime on languages, unless u r very interested in learning one

hola! quetal? :-)

Me just saw this thread....

I did a basic course in spanish from Instituto Hispania in delhi. but the inst aint all that gr8.

I basically had a love fr the spanish lang since a long time... Hence the decision to choose Espanol.

Anyways, Spanish is picking up majorly! 24 nations speak Spanish.

And hey nibupraju, which lang u wanna do depends a lot on where u live. 'Cuz i wanted to continue with Spanish afer coming to Hyd, but cudnt find any decent inst. Finall found one (Ramakrishna Math) but conduct classes from 6 - 8 in morn and eve, both of which r nt suitable for mr. :(

Uday

WOuld not want to comment on the advantage of foreign language in MBA or anything .. but it always helps to learn and pick up new languages ... because in the future you might have an advantage incase ur company wants to send you overseas or anything ..

ALso, learning things becomes difficult as we go on ageing .... So, it would not be a bad idea to learn say French or Spanish .. since they are followed in many countries ... Some people nowadays do CHinese, Korean, Japanesse .... German is spoken mostly in Germany only ... so it could be having a limited scope !!!

Wrong dude!
German is in Germany, Austria and a majority of Switzerland (German is the official language in all these countries).
Not advertising for German here (even though I am a Language Specialist!) but just setting the record straight!

austria i knew ... but switzerland too ??? sounds strange .. since my cousin was there for a year .. and he said french was more common .. anywayz.

Your cousin would have visited the French part of Switzerland!
Actually Switzerland has three official languages! English, German and French. There are parts where French is extensively spoken and there are other areas where German and English are widely spoken!
So that should explain that!
Besides with German one can also safely get through countries like Poland, Hungary and other Eastern Europe countries. German is not the official language there, but a lot of people know German! 😁
