I have MDI final call and in INTIE i have WL1 ---13 (pata nahi convert hoga kinahi).....
but guys let me know what to go for means in general which of the two schools are better....

i will like to put in my suggestion. first sort out whether you want to do operation or some other stream. decide on basis NITIE is the KING in operation but not so gr8 in marketing and finance as it has industrial engineering attached to its name.so not many companies outside operation looks at it.
besides i think you will ahve to submit MDI fees anyway since waitlist for NITIE clears after 31st march
salary packages are more or less same.depends if you can manage a top shot companies both hav some good jobs to offer.

see i have done my BE comp Sci and have work exp of 20months of patni...
so i want to do my MBA in systems or for some bschools like NITIE (Information technology)...
with this information can you ppl provide more insight as to which college to choose...
Ya Fees is not at all a concern....

hi...have got thru both nitie-pgdim and mdi-pgpm...
had a sound chat wid one of my seniors at nitie...
some things about nitie that looked really good are:
1. cluster pick sys. of electives....kind of mix n' match and that too rite upto ur final sem. so complete freedom as to what profile u want...( and not specific as so many of our frenz out here think!)
2. dream option sys. 2005 onwards ( u can take 3 placements simulaneously and choose the best suited outta them!)
3.located in the business capital- mumbai!! superb industry interface n all ( on this count mumbai really beats gurgaon)
4. ops and scm r its specialist streams since 40 yrs ( was esablished for the same purpose) incomparable on this count!
5. No-Nonsense type B-school...not much into glam-sham.
6. A GOVT. OF INDIA promoted insitute.
7. No obsession with the b-school rankings ...and many times the surveys r not true indicators cos' many times the info. these survey mag.s ask for is confidential acc. to GoI norms and r not shown to them...and inturn Nitie lands up wid lower rankings..
8. 1.8 final offers made per person for 2005 batch.
9. These guys are really concerned abt the kind of guys they want to take in and this is obvious from the kind of panels ( 6-10 membered panels) they have for gd and pi both.
10. 6 months of industrial interface....2 months in 1st yr and 4 months in 2nd yr!
11. Nitie is more beautiful when compared to Mdi....
Havent analysed mdi as extensively yet...if anyone of u has counter points in favour of mdi, feel free to post...as this is no matter of competition and we want to land up in an insti which is best suitable for us...rite guys?

Should one wait for IIM K & I results; which will not come before 1st week of April & then lose on 68 K or just leave IIM I& K

Hi Vaibhav,
If i'm not wrong, you are from operations background and intend to continue in the same. In that case, NITIE is THE place for you....it's a great place to be in for someone interested in SCM and stuff.
As regards MDI, NITIE, and I n K, personally I think there's not much to choose between them. The companies are more or less the same, and all these institutes follow a no-differential policy. So in that sense it's all a personal decision, though yes the IIM tag is pretty attractive....I face the same dilemma between MDI n K ( if i get K that is )

1. yes NITIE is considered to be a ops and scm school and it is the best in operations( even beats IIM-A...according to outlook survey
), but we are good in marketing as well as finance....as we have final placements in all of them, with a lot of good companies coming. namely maruti,GSK,ICICI,asian paints,BPCL etc for marketing and BARCLAYS Singapore,tokyo....citibank, icici, hdfc etc to name a few.2. ya thr has been a lot of talk about the pgdie on pagulguy lately...but i can assure u this is not true. both courses are unique in themselves and amongst the best there can be.
3. this one is good.....Ya NITIE is a govt institute....and we r proud of that...because being a govt institute has a lot of advantages...one of them being the huge grants
that we get from the govt. also i dont think this is against NITIE because IIM's are also govt institutes and also NITIE is one of the 14 centers of excellence apart from 6 IIM's, 6 IIT's and IISc.4. this one is even better.......dude NITIE has been always ranked amongst the top 3 in extra-curricular activities in all the rankings.....and being in NITIE i can surely say it is easily the best. also being in mumbai has a lot of advantages that other locations dont have.
all in all , the 4 disadvantages that u stated are excellent advantages if u look at them closely..
any more queries are welcome....

well, actually my prob is tht i m keen to do an MBA in finance...n 4 now i have only nitie as an option ( i m wl 18, but i think it will get confirmed in the next list. also have mdi wl 115, but there no chance )... i also have a job offer frm infosys via campus placement....so donno if i should wait 4 a yr, take work ex n then try 4 better institutes..or take up nitie now...do a combi of op and fin, n arrive in the arena as a fresher......
i m confused.....wht say.....??

Just now I spoke to NITIE Admin dept. ppl.
Reg. first cum first serve basis.: if for eg. 10 out of selected list didn't turn up, then they will send the letters for the 10 people in the WL 1. Now who will respond to their letters first (with in the stipulated period mentioned in letter) will get their seat reserved first.
News that will cheer up WL ppl is that., last time they had even issued WL 3. Lets hope that will be case with us also...
WL ppl,, will be given time to submit fees...
So, all WL ppl.. keep your fingers crossed, and pray for the people in merit list, so that they get seats in IIMs.
