I came to know that Shweiser FRM material for 2012 is not available in Mumbai at Mahakali book center? Where should we order it from now?

I contacted Laxmi Xerox , Mumbai. They told FRM 2012 Schweser notes will be available from 10th feb, 2012 onwards...currently I have the 2011 notes..

Guys, one doubt. While filling the FRM form, does one gets automatically registered via the user id and password given in step 2 of registration because the third page asks for payment without any creation of user id. Please help me on this.

Hey can u help me get the 2011 FRM Notes. I m unable to find them anywhere..

Seems like no one wants this  ... In case no one is expressing interest, I can dispose these off.

Hi i m need of FRM Material . can u let me know how can i get the material?

Please post general queries to the forum... taking this to the forum for everyone's benefit.

FRM and CFA are completely different areas and different target.

  1. CFA concentrates on the valuation and investment concept while FRM concentrates on the Risk Management.
  2. CFA has 3 levels and one would require typically 2-3 years to go through all the levels. FRM has 2 parts and typically 1 year would be enough although people have cleared both parts at one go.
  3. CFA is considered a basic qualification while FRM may be considered a proof of knowledge.

If you are thinking of an Investment banking job and on the research or portfolio side, try to concentrate on CFA.

If you think more towards credit or market risk, then try to think of FRM.

What attracts you to Investment Banking... If you say salary, then consider that Front line and Deal people make more than any research or risk people. So, logically, if you want to make money, forget about both CFA or FRM and concentrate on your personality and A-grade MBA.

Try to read my earlier posts and the previous 5-6 pages of this thread and the CFA thread.

Hope this helps.

I have loads of doubts regarding FRM.. Please, reply me on ...
Thanks in advance..

For start, can you tell me, basic difference between FRM n CFA and which one is better if I want pursue MBA in finance and career in investment banking field?

My background - Production Engineering(sandwich) from ...

Advice - Multiple posts and multiple Private messages will not get positive replies. Since you have joined today, take time to read the last 20 pages of this thread if you are interested in FRM. Eg: the course material providers have been mentioned multiple times in this thread and elsewhere.
Also try to search.

Probably you will take time to get used to the features of this forum, try to explore and then put a query. People are very helpful here.

Hi everyone.
I'm planning to give FRM part1 in May 12.
2 questions:
1. Lots of sources have been quoted in the study guide. Is it advisable to buy and refer to them for the exam?
2. I'm planning to buy the material listed before in the thread. Is the material suitable for beginners?
Thank you.:)

I have the following Schweser material 2011 (hard copy) for FRM L2 with me

- Market Risk
- Risk Mgmt and Invstt Mgmt
- Practice Exams

Anyone willing to take them in person in Bangalore from my place is most welcome to come and collect them.
I do not require any payment.

1. If you referring to Core Readings in the study guide, then yes, they are very detailed and some are very helpful for study.
2. Which material do you refer to? Depends... are you a beginner to Finance or to Risk Mgmt?
