If someone is abt to start working in a nationalized bank on either Treasury Mgmt profile OR Risk Mgmt profile,then is there any need to go for FRM???
I feel that there is no need as any certification in this world cannot be better than actually doing the work. However, I want puys to comment
on this.
BTW, I also plan to try for private/foren banks after 1-2 years.

I m gonna join NIBM's Post grad diploma in banking n finance 2011-13 and will be getting most prob job in a govt bank in Treasury or Risk management..

Nw what should i read in maths to strengthen my basics for FRM..? i had Maths till 10th STD only.. plzz suggest me so that i can cope with few things..!!

When can 1st level exam be given after Nov. 2011.?? Does FRM 1st level is held in May also or only in Nov.. and what abt 2nd level when does it happens in the year..?


Should i give FRM 1st level after 1st yr of MBA..?

Plzz guide me..!!

I am interested in doing FRM. I am from IT background with over 4 yrs of experience and have no financial background.

Would like to know if going for FRM at this stage will really help me from economy point of view, as I am very much interested in working in finance domain.

Would also like to know about the job prospects and the salary I can expect.

i m a MBA student of 2011-13 batch. plz solve a couple of queries abt FRM -

1. i dont have ne finance related Work-ex which means i wont be able get the certificate even if i pass both the exams. so will i be able to leverage it for final placements ?

2. how will my salary prospects be with MBA+FRM degree ?

Hi,
I have known people who have got placement in the treasury of national banks like SBH with a simple MBA finance from an ordinary b school, and they are doin gr8. AFA FRM is concerened for Indian banks, PRM perhaps makes more sense in the present scenario . However in banks like Axis bank its ppl from IIM that find plaement in treasurry and they too eventually end up persuing an FRM. For foren banks however FRM is more relevent qualification. FRM is a degree that can embellish your CV and wud make it appear impresive if nothing else, at the same time u will be much better prepared to answer the questions related to treasury in the interviews. It's a matter of time that FRM would become relevent in the Indian banking scenario as well

What is the general criteria to pass this exam(Part 1)? or if someone has analyzed something can he please post it here?
does every all 4 sections have some cut off may be 25%ile or 50%ile? does over all score have more significance?

-What are the suggested readings for FRM Part-I?

-Do we need the FRM Part-I books (Complete set of 4 individual books)? But then they cost an extra $250.

-Will Schweser notes be enough? Will they be different for Nov Part-I? Where can I get them? How much do they cost?

-Which calculator do I need to get?

-How much time does one require to commit before taking the exam?

-How many sections are there in the exam?? Are there any sectional cut-offs?

Both calculators are allowed for FRM Level 1 exam and also the calculation which are to be done for FRM Level 1 exam is of basic nature, so any of these calculator will serve the same utility.
