I have recently registered and started prep fro 15th Nov . as of now I have started with gujarati and hull core readings, Just like Hull 6th edition gujarati has lot of practice question but no answers/solutions so basically my questions are


1. I mean how do u people practice problems ? schweser has only 5 questions per reading.

2. Any idea where I can get hull 6th edition and gujarati solution book (if there is one for gujarati like hull) ?

Am in the same situation as you... and am hampered by the fact that am new to most of the material also :(
What I am trying to do is read Schweser and if I do not understand something, go to the Core readings and then solve the scheweser's 5 questions. Once I get to the Old exam questions, I will come to know what areas am weak in and will try to brush those up by solving a few problems from the core readings. I simply do not have enough time to go thru the core readings and then through Schweser!!

It would be nice if someone can let me know how important it is to read/solve problems in the Core readings.

Thanks for the reply...I recently spoke with two of my frnds , who are already FRM and they suggetsed that there are good problems in the Handbook i.e. Jorian....u can try solving probs there 😃

hey thx for the tip, I had started on Jorian (before I got the schweser) but I found that a few topics have been changed, so I did not want to waste my time going thru some topic that is not included in this year's exam....

About the Hull solutions, try to get 5th edition solutions, they are available on the net, (i have the 5th ed solutions is a 14 mb file, let me know if you need it, will try to mail it to you)

That's funny..i've been constantly following up with Mansoor (Laxmi book depot guy), and have been hearing that the CD isn't multi-user yet, and needs to be cracked, and will me mailed in some time...
Did you get the CD along with the set of notes?

The CD is definitely not working 100% - I got the password and Registration key from the Laxmi guy and installed it. First time it works fine with the following Steps -

1. Disconnect Internet from laptop.
2. Run installable and install Schweser Pro level FRM
3. Run the program -
4. Program asks for User id and Password and registration key -
5. Add the above (details are given in the pdf on the CD)
6. Get a screen saying you are not connected to internet - Choose Authenticate later
7. Program runs fine - you can choose tests and questions.
8. Exit
9. Re-start the program - again asks for the User id; pwd and Registation key - again add the details - choose authenticate later (net is disconnected) -
10. BOOM - Get a message saying that SchweserPro Access Denied -
11. Uninstall - reinstall - and again works fine for the first time but then 2nd time BOOM - Access Denied.

Any pointers?

Have registered for the Nov exam.
Prep material at my disposal -
Softcopy of the 2007 FRM Handbook.

Queries -
- Is the 2008 Handbook radically different from that of the previous year?
- It is a bit of a pain to read the e-copy. Any idea where and for how much can I procure the schweser guides in Gurgaon?
- I registered in mid-August. When can I expect the hall-ticket?

I called up Kris and learnt that only part test (9 to 11:30 in the morning is free). The complete test would cost 300 bux and they would (like Kris said) all india percentile ranking for those who paid for the complete test. What do you guys say? Worth registering for the complete thing?
