Is FRM Quant heavy?? I am a B.COM grad and didn't had Maths in my 10+2 and graduation. I don't like Maths much...

Hi Puys,
M waiting for a reply to my query.

Hi,

Yes, Although Quant Risk occupies only 10% of the exam, its concepts has to be actively employed in other areas of risk.

The best option will be to read out FRM Handbook Quant Risk part. Other stuff to read out will be the Basic Econometrics book by Gujarati.

If you are comfortable with the stuff, then head on for the exam.

Another option would be - If u stay in Mumbai, get on to Laxmi Xerox shop and check out the Core Readings. Spend some time over there. Go through the Quant Risk notes multiple times.

cheers,

Shyam

Hi Puys,
M waiting for a reply to my query.

Does anybody have core readings of 2007.
2 missing chapters from core readings MODEL RISK and STYLE DRIFTS were part of it.
Those who have pls share!
Now pending is :-
1. 3 chapters of Micheal Ong
2. John Hull's chapter on CREDIT DERIVATIVES
3. Ellen Davis - BASEL II & SOX

Hi Puys,

How are your preparations going on? My self have scheduled to kick start full-fledged preparation from next week

Coming to point, After long mull over joining Pristine (We Chennai guys do not have options of Ace3Level or IQF and thanks to Anil for giving positive feedback about Pristine), finally I have decided to join classes. Classes are going to commence from 24 of May. Classes will be conducted on every Saturday and Sunday (i.e. 24, 25 of May and ). Every day 5 hours. 10 hours per weekend. 5 weekends and 5x10=50 hours of total duration. Fees 10,000.

I am strongly in favour of joing classes because of following reasons:
1. Many concepts are fairly new to many of us. Through self study, even after sparing lot of time and efforts, we may not get good grasp of intricacies of the concepts some times we do not understand at all. A formal class by an expert in that field would unravel many difficult concepts.
2. Most of the concepts very practical in nature. Briefing about background of the concepts is necessary to get practical understanding of concepts. Text books or tutorials do not provide such background. They, generally, plunge into the concepts. A class room training may provide such facility.
3. Experts in this field can give guidance and right path for preparation which is very much necessary for exams like FRM.

Its worth 10k, when we are sparing around 30k+ and so much of time.

So guys any body from Chennai want to join Pristine please post here. If we can make 5 or more we can bargain for a discount of %.

thanks,
Dora

hi,
