Financial Risk Manager [FRM] by GARP

Hi Coumar,

Geneva!!!! WoW PG Goes International

Looks like PG gets good hits on FRM Thread.

Rgding ur Query:

First of all, Please make sure u are BUYING ESSENTIAL ECONOMETRICS - 3ed Gujarati and not Basic Econometrics

The CD comes free with the book, So u need not pay any money for the CD. If you have diff price quotes for the book with and/or without CD dont buy the book from that dealer.

CD basically sample datas that can be used for learning different models as examples. These sample data can be fed into Advanced Excel Financial models, SAS, SPSS etc.

If u r looking for knowledge beyond the FRM exam, then this CD will be quite useful.

IMPORTANT UPDATE: Indian Candidates
If anyone is looking to buy Essential Econometrics 3rd Edition - We have a Sinagpore Edition of this book thats available in India for 26 USD which translates to Rs 1100 roughly (1$ = 41 Rs)

U Can order through any Book dealer that stocks Tata Mcgrawhill Books. Ask the book dealer for a list of books published by TataMcgrawhill and u will find this book in the list.

If you do not find any bookstore that stocks this book, Then there are some stockists in Mumbai that would order the book for you.

Hope that this would solve the problem of Quant Risk

Cheers,

Shyam
quote=tensiv;1108110]Hi All,

Shyam, thanks for the answers.

Concerning Gujarati's book, Essential on Econometrics, does anyone know which edition we have to use? I can find on Internet two different versions of the third edition. One book is coming with a CD and the other not. I don't know if the CD will be useful for the exam or not.

Cheers,
Coumar

Hi

Bionic turtle is an online course provider for FRM and its run by David Harper.
Check out Learn Finance with the Pros | Bionic Turtle

There are many sample articles and also a few videos pertaining to FRm on the site, which can be accessed free. You need to pay and sign up if you want access to all the content. (Cost is $299 till may 9 and $ 399 after that)

All in all, from what ive seen and read on the site , it appears to be really good.

CD with Jorion's handbook contains question papers from 2000-2003.

All paid candidates of FRM can get 2007 questions with solutions & practise questions for 2008 on GARP website.

Link is :

https://www.garpdigitallibrary.org/display/product.asp?pid=1412

or search with keyword "Exams".

You have to download locklizard software also to read the same.

Same can't be copied.

Hi

Some Correction:

2008 FRM Paid candidates will only get 2008 FRM Practise exams. They will not get 2007 FRM Practise exams.

2007 & 2006 FRM practise papers will be available for USD 50 and USD 10 respectively.

Cheers,

Shyam

I am referring to the Practise exams thats available on GARP Digital Library. Heres the link

2007 FRM Practice Exams, FRM Certification Program

We get 3 practise exams with Solutions.

I am not referring to the sample exam thats available on the GARP website

Hope this clears,

Cheers,

Shyam

Hello

You can go to GARP - FRM - The Certification Recognized by Risk Management Professionals Worldwide and see historical passing rates and other information on the exam. Also GARP does not release the individual FRM Exam scores, as per the FRM Guidelines at www.garp.com/frmexam/guidelines.asp which state "Test results are given on a Pass/Fail basis only".

Additionally, the registrant agreement which you will sign before taking the exam states "I further understand that the specific results of my examination will not be released to me for review after completion of the examination and I will receive only a Pass or Fail notification."

Passing scores are determined as a ratio of the absolute score to the average of the top 5% of passers. You are not penalized for a wrong answer. The test results analysis that will be provided to you will allow you to see how you did compared to others that took the exam.

Thank you,
GARP FRM Team

Financial Risk Manager | How many passed the FRM 2006 exam.....pass rates for FRM 2007

I went with some other aspirants to IQFI office.
Their classes will be at somewhere at churchgate.

Frankly speaking I wasnt so comfortable.
They are first timers and didnt seem to exam oriented.
It could be a taking a chance.
The positive factor of more time could prove to be negative if time is wasted.
Faculties as told by the coordinator are FRM designation.
Still who doesnot want to go fast & just want to supplement studies with some sort of training, may go for it. By conversation they looked adjustible being first timers.
But nothing is committed from their side.

Those who really wish to take off & then wish to look for the ground where they stand, may like the Pristine way.
Pristine as all comment will be more exam oriented. But looks little fast.
They may not be putting much emphasize on basics (I doubt as I am not so familiar with Quant as have not practised much).

Faculty wise I dont have any idea.
Just heard Mr. Parminder in Pristine is good in Quant.

I didnt comment on ACE3 because first I dont have any idea. secondly they seem more money oriented. Their fees is very high.

Hello All,

Anil both are official FRM Course Providers.

From ur Analysis IQF definitely provides more days on FRM training. It would be a good idea to visit their office in Mumbai, before u register for the course with them.

Pristine is Good too, and theres one more Ace3levels.

Ultimately it boils down to How much effort does one put in, At the ends it would be us and not the Classes that would make the difference

Cheers,

Shyam

Hi Guys,

I am from Bangalore, and after going through this forum I do realize that I am a bit late. But better late than never and so here I am.

Guys I would like to know if there is anyone from Bangalore out here in this forum who is planning to join any coaching classes or has joined yet?

Also for the notes from Schweser, even I would like to share costs for them. So if anyone could hep me out with that and any other notes available that would be really great.
