Hi,
Browse through http://www.global-derivatives.com/ . Lots of prospective/current Quantitative Finance students are active there.

The top programs are at Columbia, HAAS(Berk), Stan, Chicago, CMU, New York... These course are professional courses (like MBA).. and there is little, if no chance of getting any aid. You need to have a strong quantitative background to get into the top schools. High GRE/GMAT score is required. An 800/800 in GRE Quant is almost mandatory. At some schools like HAAS, Subject GRE in Maths is also required. Prior coursework in Finance is not required but it obviously helps. At Columbia it is possible to get in without work-ex, but I am not so sure about other schools. The placements in the top schools is excellent. Students end up with a lot of "Quant" jobs and Trading jobs for bulge-bracket IBs.
