Hey any idea what exactly is the difference between a Early Action Round and R1?

Does applying in EA increase the chances of getting an admission while reducing the probability of getting a scholarship?

I makes sense to assume that people applying in EA round are kind of obligated to join Duke due to the admission fee 3000$ involved so sponsoring them might not help the college.

Is there any place where I can get the contacts of this college Alumni?

Thank you Rahul for starting this thread.

Hey yerneni.

EA vs R1 - I would say that EA holds a slight advantage over R1, but then it again depends upon person to person. If you are applying in EA then it shows a more focus towards the b-school. It kinda give an impression to the adcom about your sincerity reg the program. For Duke, though the acceptance rate is pretty low for the school, at the same time the conversion rate (no of students finally accepting offers) is also low. Thus by applying in EA you are showing your commitment towards the school. But it also can be disadvantageous for some. Suppose till R1 there are very few doctors, petroleum engineers admitted, then it gives an advantage to those belonging to these categories (to maintain diversity) during R2. Whereas if you belong to a very common group with similar profiles like IT, FIN then it's better to apply in EA.

I dn't know about scholarship aspect frankly as it is solely up to the adcom to decide. I have heard mixed comments about the chances for schol for EA applicants, so I can't say affirmatively. But I believe that EA round won't hamper your chances for a schol (if you deserve)

Hey rahulsar.. need to know one thing...in the application form they have asked us to submit proof of attending classes in calculus, statistics , finance, accounting and economics... i have attended these classes during my engg classes....but in the transcript the calculus and the statistics class are named as Mathematics I & II respectively and the finance and accounting classes were taken by humanities department so they are named as HUmanities I & II.. ....so how to potray now that i have attended these classes in the application form and how are u addressing the same.

1.) If you would like, you may explain your completed courses in the optional essay of the application.

Hi All,
Does anybody know about transcripts required Duke?

Looking for some advice

Thanks,

Hi Guys,

Do any of you know if there is a possibility of getting a Fee Waiver for the Duke application.

Last year I got to know through someone that Duke helps to reduce the burden of cost on the Indian students by waiving off 75% of the application fee.

There is some tie-up they have with some Educational Consultant in Malleshwaram, Bangalore where we can register and avail the fee waiver.

But I'm not sure of the details. Does anyone know anything abt it?

There is no specific transcript format. But it should list all the courses you took from your university. Some universities simply stamp the xerox of marksheets ( like mine did) and wrote a note saying this is transcript. Your univ would be having the specific format. Better contact your college for this.

BTW me too in race for Duke
720/4yrs/Indian-IT-Male
was looking for EA but i've wasted a world of time on FB hence will have to push it R1 until i came up with miracle.
Hi Guys,

Duke explicitly mentions two ways of getting fee wiavers.
1 ) if you are referred to by current student/alumni
2) You attend their event. Even if it was about 2 years back. But Duke values your effort to establish your fit with Duke. The reduced fee is $50 .
You can check for events in your region.

Hi guys,

My first post here ... not to familiar ..i have applied to the duke EA round .

690/5.5 (3yrs wrk ex in sales and marketing till date with an MNC)

I think my Gmat score is on the lower side for Fuqua specially considering the Indian Pool. Is it true if they like your profile they put on the waitlist and then you have to take another shot at the GMAT?

Hi Rahul,

Thank you for starting this thread. I am applying to Fuqua in R1 as well.

They have an open interview policy until Oct. 16th. Has anyone scheduled for an on-campus interview yet?

Hi Puys!!

I am also in for Duke R1. My Profile

GMAT 700
Work Ex 5 years (2.5 IT, 2.5 Business Development in Food Ingredients Manufacturing)
Is a 700 good enough score considering that i am an Indian applicant? Anyone know what the avg GMAT for Indian applicants are?
