How come "While" be a Noun>?

i think while in 5 is an adverb because it is describing rest which is a verb

1. Adverb
2. Adjective
3. Preposition
4. Adverb
5. Noun
6. Adverb

correct answers please

Plz justify ur answers I m having many doubts

Parts of speech: in simple words:
Noun: Name of anything: To avoid using noun repeatedly: Pronouns are used(it,she,he etc.)
Verb: Action

Adjective: Tells something about noun(beautiful, ugly etc.)
Adverb: Tells something about action(quickly, slowly, etc)

Proposition:Tells noun or pronoun relation with something(in, to, for etc.)

Conjunction: mix two different sentences(and, therefore etc.)

Interjection: Expresses sudden feeling as in wren and martin

Now... lets look up at the questions...
1.After the storm comes the calm.

Answer: Proposition
Why? Because it is showing the relation between storm(noun) and comes(verb)

2.The after effects of the drug are bad
Answer: "Effects" is noun and "after" here Tells something about noun and tells a category of effects--after effects, hence it is adjective

3.He was only a yard off me.
"off" is telling relation between yard(noun) and me(pronoun) or we can say position hence proposition

4.Let us move on
"on" Tells something about verb "move" hence adverb

5.Sit down and rest a while.
"while" here can be assumed as a "second", so it is a noun
"while" could be confused with adverb as it is telling something about the verb "rest"
but remember, we have to consider "while" and not "a while"

6.I ll watch while u sleep
"i will watch" is an independent sentence and "you sleep" is an independent sentence
so while here is a conjunction

hmm.... not a prblm bro... i got you....

let me make it a little simple:

adverb: tells something about:
---> action or verb---> eg. "working fastly" --- "fastly" is adverb
or
--->can add to adjective also---> eg. a very beautiful girl---"beautiful" is adjective where as "very" is adverb
or
--->can add to adverb too---> eg. working very fastly---"fastly" here is an adverb where as "very" is also an adverb too

where as adjective can only be something which just tells about noun....

Now i got it clear...

I'll explain in possibly the most "kaam chalaun" way.
Abstract noun is anything that you can think of...and abstract noun will include quality(honesty-quality of being honest, simplicity-quality of being honest), state(childhood-state of a child, poverty-state of a poor) or action(laughter-action of laughing).

Now why honest is an adjective and not an abstract noun?
Coz we say:
He is an honest man. (Man:noun; honest explaining what kind of man-noun- he is.)
So whenever you are confused about which one is abstract noun and which one adjective, frame such easy sentences.

Wisdom?
He is a wisdom man?
OR
He's a wise man?
There you go with which one is noun and which one is AN.
Hope you got the 'bhaawnaaye'.

Now in 'The soldiers were rewarded for their bravery.'
Soldiers were rewarded for a quality of theirs. Which quality? Bravery. And quality of anything comes into AN. Sahin hai, beedu?

In 'A committee of five was appointed ?'
A committee of how many?
Now adjectives of number answer this question. We call them Numeral Adjective.
To be more specific: Definite Numeral Adjective. (You know the definite no.)
To be even more specific: Cardinal Definite Numeral Adjective(Like one, two, three..)
The other one is Ordinals Definite Numeral Adjective(Like first chapter, second left etc)

And now in 'We saw a fleet of ships in the harbour.'.....I can't really say what exactly you want to know.
Lemme know,comrade.

FYI, puys, we have a very active thread on sentence correction.

For this, you have to again get on to the basics:

Nouns:
Could be divided as follows: Majorly in 3 types:
1. Proper noun: denotes specific individual(sita, gita---specific girl)
2. Common noun: denotes specific category(girl, boy---specific category)
3. Collective noun: denotes a group or collection of things(eg. mob, herd)

Could also be divided as follows:
1. Concrete noun:
which you can see(school), touch(car), taste(food), hear(Song) or smell(flower)
they are real things in world. We can sense them around--car, sita, mob etc

Rahul is a brave boy.

2. Abstract noun : which you can't see or touch or hear or taste or smell
they are virtual things in mind which we can think of---They could be :

qualities: bravery, goodness
Actions: laughter, theft
State: childhood, sleep, sickness

Bravery helped Rahul in controlling the situation.

Abstract nouns could be formed from: adjectives(brave--bravery), verb(appear--appearance) etc. or could be independent(joy, hope)

ANSWERS TO YOUR QUESTIONS:
1. We all Love Honesty----"Honesty" is an abstract noun
2. The soldiers were rewarded for their bravery---"Bravery" is an abstract noun here too
3. A committee of five was appointed: A(article), committee(collective noun), of(preposition), five(adjective since telling something about noun), was(helping verb), appointed(verb)
4. We saw a fleet of ships in the harbour: We(Pronoun) saw(verb) a(article) fleet(collective noun) of(preposition) ships(plural noun) in(preposition) the(article) harbour(common noun)
