Distance MBA helps in career growth?

I am a post graduate chemical er. with a sound academic background and around 4 years of work experience in chemical process design.I want to switch my profile from purely technical to product marketing,business development.

I have been considering to take up a decent distance/online PGDM/MBA in marketing management. What is your say on this?Which of the two PGDM or MBA suits better to my profile?More importantly, would it help me in the above mentioned career aspiration? If yes, can you suggest a few well recognized institutes for that?

If you have a good alumni network, good pre MBA work experience, + strong skill set, then this will help. MBA is to complement your existing skill, if you do not have a strong CV before joining MBA, then do not expect MBA to wave a magic wand on your career.
