Dear all,

here i like to share my experience with the test center and need your advice for further course of actions:

Dear Sir/madam,

I appeared for the GMAT test on 20/06/11. I belong to India and my test center was at Indore( Madhya Pradesh). I faced a lot of problems at the center during my test to which I like to draw your attention:

1.The test was scheduled on 11:30 a.m.; I reached to the center at 10: 30 a.m. and wanted to freshen up myself but surprised to see that water availability was not there at that time.

2.Representative provided me only one loose sheet with a thick local type marker. I requested them to provide me the extra sheet but they denied. They said that " As per rule, Pearson provides only one sheet at a time." So, I had to ask for the extra sheet every time and it was really time consuming. Several times, representative was not available to provide me the extra sheet and I had to shout for it.

3. Again to my misfortune, the marker was having the broad lead ( a thick one). When I asked, representative told me that these are provided through Pearson only. I was not able to write through that marker on the laminated sheet during my whole test; When I was frustrated enough to tell them again about the problem, then suddenly they provided me the thin pointed marker with pearson written on it.It was very easy to write from the new marker, but all in vain since I had already finished my maths test with the previous broad pointed marker till that time.

4.During break ,I complained why did not they provide me the thin pointed marker earlier, they were blank and told me that pearson provides them the limited marker and they dont have the sufficient one. This was really surprising to me, but the whole incident left me with the puzzled and disappointed mind.

4.When my Verbal section started, there was no representative to attend my raising hand and to provide me the extra sheet, when required. I had to shout a no of times for the sheets. This whole incident, and now their misbehavior really left me with the diverted mind and I was not able to concentrate on the test anymore.

5.Moreover, they did not even bother to start the Air Conditioner during the test. It was so hot and humid at the center that I was not able to concentrate.

The above mentioned problems really diverted my concentration and I was not able to put all my efforts and secure good percentile in the test which I deserved to be. I left the center with a great demise and disappointment. I am really surprised that GMAC is providing us such a test centre which even does not has the availability of water and A.C. Moreover, GMAC can not provide the thin pointed marker for the rough works which was a great disappointment.

I am really frustrated and dont know what to do. My whole 5 months preparation went into vain. I am really disappointed. I demanded from GMAC for the rescheduling of my test with the proper test conditions.

Dear All,

I registered the complaint with GMAC; they reviewed my case and allow me for the free re- test. I received a mail from Pearson Vue stating that "we are offering you a free GMAT exam without override of 31 days policy and no revoke of scores.."

Can you please clarify this statement for me?
Can i plan my exam on July 16 of this year? If not then how long may I extend this free test?
Would it be considered my second attempt?

Further I want your valuable suggestions so that I may perform better than the previous one. I scored dismal 580 ( Q 49 & V 20) AWA: 5.0 in previous test.

Kindly help me how to improve my verbal and how much time should I ask to schedule my next exam.

I believe the 31 day policy is that you need to have at least a 31 day separation between two attempts at the GMAT so basically you can schedule the test anytime after 31 days from the previous test date.

In my opinion the no revoke means that the score for the last test will not be revoked. However I won't be very worried about this since a lot of schools actually consider the last score or the highest score so you should be safe on that front.

Having said all that I think the best course of action for you would be to call up the GMAC helpline and ask someone to explain the clauses mentioned to you in the email. Folks on this forum can give you multiple interpretation of the statements in the email but the only reliable one will be you hear from an official representative of GMAC, so please do call them without fail.

I just got the call from pearson vue and I opted to schedule my free test on 03 sept i.e approx 2 months from now. Though its true that I faced a lot of problems at the center but after securing 20 in verbal I am sure I couldnt have secured a lot of marks in the best conditions. Kindly help me because I am very much disappointed and dont know how to start again. I already finished MGMAT SC, read Powerscore CR and also completed Official Guide 12, Official Guide verbal review.

I was securing approx 31 - 36 in MGMAT tests in verbal so I know I am weak in verbal but dont know how to improve it. I dont want to read those books again. Can you suggest me how can I improve my verbal score to achieve my target score of 700+.

Post your query on the various verbal specific GMAT threads on PG, folks there would be able to help you, I don't think a lot of people are following this thread so posting a query here would not be very effective.

Sorry I couldn't help you better with you query but I had given the GMAT almost 4 years ago, hardly remember anything from that time :|

As a general advice - I hope you regularly read newspaper, magazines etc. I feel a reading habit certainly helps with the verbal and AWA sections.

Thanks joinashish for sharing your experience... did anybody have positive experience in Indore... I have my exam next month in the same center and now I am thinking whether I should reschedule it?..

Hi!
I have experienced similar problems in Pune Centre. My mouse got stuck in the last 25 seconds, leading me to miss an answer and a penalty totalling a loss of 20 marks.

The Pune centre acknowledged the issue at that time but later reported no hardware problem to GMAC.

I am thoroughly disappointed as I am on the edge with 690 and 20 marks will make the world of a difference having crossed 700 mark.

Can anyone advise on having gone through similr experience?
Any help is deeply appreciated.

HI
I had a similar problem with my GRE test center. I submitted the complaint a week ago and haven't heard from them yet. How much time did it take to get the required response in your case. I'm planning to sue the company for the loss. What are your suggestions about it ?

Hi guys.

I want to book a date for GMAT. Im not sure whether to book the Pune test centre as while searching online, I found a variety of complaints raised against it . Im writing some of them here:

1 Midway in the exam, power went off and there was a 1 hour delay!

2 Mouse got stuck in the end minutes and 2-3 questions could not be attempted. The mgmt did not help in any way.

3 Centre is not soundproof, one guy told me that while giving the exam, there was noise of bollywood songs being played on the streets.

Can anyone advice me the future course of action as I dont want to take any risks on the test day.

Will a Mumbai centre be more apt here which is tried and tested by many?

Hi all,

Shorly, I am going to book Pune center for GMAT:

GATS, Office 1, Symphony C, Ashok Nagar, Range Hills Rd.

Cud anyone pls tell me if there are still POWER CUT and other technical probs occurring at the center?? Some reported that there were noises of filmy songs etc all the time. Pls share ur good / bad exp. guys.

I live in Pune and don't want to go Mumbai, esp when the finance capital is heavily flooded.  All suggestions will highly appreciated. Thanks. TC.
