test of characters in both parts of the world....at one end it is test of character for young pujara,who is just into his 2nd match...trying hard to prove himself and batted brilliantly last evening..to survive 50 deliveries...at the other end it is for ponting,one of the all times great,who has proved himself a long time back but going through a rough patch for a long time ...his team trailing by 415 runs..what a day of cricket:thumbsup:
i personally will like to see ponting scoring some runs today....

I agree with view that SAF can chase 300 with the type of batting line-up they have and if they dont throw their wickets or get some reckless decisions. Smith,Kallis,AB,Amla,Prince,Boucher :
each one of them can take game away on his own.It is upto Laxman : always reliable man to show his class once again and Pujara to cash on the chance. He has been so far so good, atleast better than Raina. Go India go.......:cheerio:

Vaise today India should look to Capitalise with VVS & pujara at the crease VVS to prove once again why he is VVSpecial & for Pujara its a LIfetime chance to kick out Raina & Yuvraj out of the Test Race....
it is evident that no matter what happens result will come out of this match and this is a situation from where it can swing to either ways. now it all depends on how pujara, dhoni and special laxman hold their innings. laxman knows what he needs to do and has experience also in the past for the similar situations but for pujara and dhoni this is a real test. their job is not to score runs but to frustrate stayn and smith. runs will automatically come but the important thing is to frustrate SA with the long lasting partnership. no matter how slow you go result is bound to come. and looking at the pitch i think harbhajan will be the key in the second innings . hope he justifies his position .

Graeme swannn is a really phenomenal bowler, but the fact that he is the best in the world is bcoz these are perhaps the most "spinner-less" times that we have seen. Murali, Kumble, warne have retired. Harbhajan and Ajantha mendis have flattered to deceive and the Pakistan team which was once known for the guy who invented the doosra is usually in the news for all the doosra reasons. Even Vettori is bogged down by the roles of captain + selector + batsman + bowler.
Graeme swann is a champ.. I would say currently he is better than harbajan singh.. Its not just the spin and drift he imparts, its the change is pace, gile.. In last one year he has picked up 76 wickets at an average of 26 on pitches that help seamers... On the other hand harbajan has picked up 41 wickets on spinner friendly wickets 
Today he has bowled 10 overs and conceded 11 runs with one missed chance in stumping by prior..Shane warne is right when he keeps reiterating that swan is currently the best spinner in the world.. But I would love to see how he would fare against Indian batting line up :w00t:

Buddy when you say irfan pathan is better than sreeshanth on what basis are u making this analysis.. On past performance irfan gave 4 yeras ago??
Presently irfan has just come out of an back injury.. He has come back to match fitness to play ranji matches..When selection of team was made for test irfan was suffering from injury. His performance in ranji trophy has been dismal. when he has not been performing on ranji matches how do u expect him to perform in international cricket?

yes indeed,india could use pathan as an allrounder at least...srikanth is one of the poorest selectors i have seen....
if not pathan,i think praveen or nehra or even munaf would have been a good option in place of unadkats or yadavs...
last evening we clearly saw the importance of early wickets..and praveen is one guy who is capable of doing so big time....he does so ,so often on placid indian tracks...he could have been a huge success here in africa...
but srikanth has more trust in a 18 year old, inexperienced ,120 km guy against the likes of amla and devilliers..great indeed

I agree for the fact that praveen should have been given chance not now but long back itself
No doubt he is better option when compared to likes of other two seamers u mentioned..I dont know why they brand players for certain form of game.. Praveen kumar has been branded ODI bolwer and pujara as test cricketer

ya there are many more guys then unadhkats.....who have performed well at other formats...nn ya especially that praveen kumar....one bowler after zaheer who takes the full advantage if the conditions are supporting with the swing he gets....n this is by the fact if the bowler can swing the bowl in dead picthes of india can proved to be too dangerous especially in other countries..!!
but about munaf i dnt know yaar...he is good bowler...proved his worth many times....but his main problem is always been fitness,,,,,in most of the series he was selected...he did got injuried and was out for the whole series

....there is not just unadkat...but one more who is in the team just cauz he is favourite of chief selector...and that is murali vijay....okay his domestic career record is gud but there were many more better than him like pujara...who is selected now..vijay is in team for 2 years....plus india had already dinesh karthik for little time when they picked him(vijay)....who had performed decent especially in other countries...!!!but still he was out...!!....n from that time he(karthik) has been neglected...and vijay has been picked in every format....!!..for no big reason..!!!...so selection was doubtful in many occasions...!!main reason was srikanth,,!!
dhoni's knock wud be important today,
it wud be great if he comes up with a violent knock after lax n pujara negotiating the early seam movement.......

Tamil Nadu Vs. Rajasthan
Karnataka Vs. Baroda
Mumbai got knocked out in the quarter finals. As a south Indian it will nice to have Tamil Nadu Vs. Karnataka final (Jan 11-15), the rivals :w00t:. Vijay and Dravid will be back home but TN will lose Ashwin because he will be in SA to play the ODIs.
I think one bowler who should have been in SA is Abhimanyu Mithun... He did pretty well in Sri Lanka in pretty ordinary conditions..
Instead of taking Unadkat and Umesh Yadav they should have taken Mithun and probably Praveen Kumar/Munaf Patel.. at least they have played more on International Arena...
Laxman is sheer class act guys...the way he is playing its being a treat fro me to watch :cheerio:

i agree dude...Praveen/Munaf shud hve been selected...
and the world cup being in touching distance...its no time to experiment wid new players too...either in tests or ODI's or the T20's...
we hve to rotate the players who hve been performing well in the team and who hve quite a good experience playing in the international stage !!
A very important 48 run partnership btwn dhoni and vvs came to an end....we need few more runs....to be on the safer side...the best way of playing in these conditions is going for runs...because even a 10-15 score from any player will matter...
